Summer is here so it s time to have some fun and maybe learn a few new things before it s all done!! We are offering opportunities for children of all ages to participate in their favorite sport or activity or maybe try something new. We are sure to have a program to fit any busy schedule. Activities are scheduled for various lengths of time. Family vacations are taken into account. Children are allowed to be absent from an activity without their absence affecting their status on a team or in an activity. eeam sport activities are structured so everyone plays. 1) Students are to participate in activities according to the grade they will be entering in the FALL OF 2014 or by their age when programming begins. 2) Please use the registration forms located on the cover of this booklet. Mail the registration form(s) and payment to the Community Schools Office BEFORE the start of each program. Please make out checks to IM-K CS. We accept debit cards, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. ehere will be no confirmation of payment letter sent to you. 4 Summer Baseball Leagues Camp Directors: Scott Jauquet, Andy Mendini, Jim Kralovec and Denise eapio Camp Fee: $35.00 is due at registration. Camp Registration: We encourage players to register in person. You will be placed on a team at registration and be given a session time for the first practice. If you are unable to register in person, please call the CS Office to be placed on a team and then mail your form and payment to Community Schools. Registration for Summer Baseball will be on the following days: * Tuesday, June 3 rd - Woodland Elementary from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. * Wednesday, June 4 th - North Elementary from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Camp Description: ehis program will focus on the development of all players in their appropriate age group. Program placement will be determined by player's age on June 9, Our goal is to teach the players the game, improve their skills and encourage them to want to PLAY BALL!! T-Ball Coach-Pitch For 5 and 6 year old players A batting tee is used rather than a player or coach pitching the ball. ehe program will concentrate on ALL areas of the game. Players will work on basic fundamentals of baseball along with playing some league games. Practice will take place on euesday and ehursday mornings and will run for five weeks. Pitching Machine Baseball and Softball For 9-12 year old players A pitching machine is used instead of a pitcher. ehis level will focus on batting as well as fielding and situational play. Individual position instruction will be available. Practice will be held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. ehe program will run for five weeks. Don t forget to bring your baseball glove!! For 7 and 8 year old players In the coach-pitch league, the coaches pitch to players according to their needs. Coaches will modify their speed and distance depending on the ability of the players. Players will also have the opportunity to work on all other areas of the game of baseball. Practice will take place on Monday and Wednesday mornings and will run for five weeks. We will be asking you 100 s of questions and going over strategy. We will also have tournaments with prizes. Camp Fee: $ Mail your registration form & payment to the CS Office. Class time will include theater games and activities teaching students drama techniques, leading to the production of a play on the final day of class. Camp Description: Participants will be given a brief history of archery, instruction on parts of the bow and arrow, safety concepts, range set-up, Jr. Olympic Whistle System and proper shooting technique. Beginning Elementary Spanish. Students will become familiar with pronunciations, new words, and sentence phrasing through activities such as games, songs and role play. 6 th - 9 th Grades June 23 rd - June 26 th 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Students will gain knowledge of Spanish vocabulary, sentence phrasing and everyday use, as well as Hispanic Culture, as they explore the world from a Spanish-speaking perspective. Each participant will receive a soccer ball. Players will learn the basic skills of soccer, such as field positioning, dribbling, passing, and GOAL!! Players must wear tennis shoes or soccer cleats. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the gym. All players must wear tennis shoes in the gym. Camp Description: ehis summer's camp will be teaching fundamentals such as ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, team play and defense through repetition and drill work. ehe girls will be schooled on drills that they may use to make themselves better all-around basketball players. Each player will receive their own basketball so they may work on the drills at home during the summer. Game play may take place if time permits. Camp Description: ehe lessons begin the week of June 9 th and will run through July 24 th. Students will attend 2 classes per week. See schedule below. ehe lessons are designed to be fun and instructive. Lessons are available for all ability levels. Beginners will learn basic fundamentals while intermediate & advanced players will improve their skills, expand their shot making ability, and work on the mental aspects of the game. Players will learn the basic fundamentals of bowling such as stance, approach, release, spare and strike making systems. ehis camp will offer league play and keep averages. Grades: Camp Dates: Camp Time: Bumper Bowling: For 1 st and 2 nd graders or other students who would benefit from having the gutters blocked with bumpers. Room (Former Central Elementary School Building) NEW! Camp Fee: $ Call the Community Schools Office at to pre-register your child and then mail in your payment. ehere is a maximum of 15 students in the class. Camp Description: ehis course is for beginner and intermediate level students. ehe course will cover sewing machine operation, material selection, pattern layout and construction. Projects to choose from are: pajama pants, simple tops, small quilts, pillows, purse, apron or curtains. Students are required to purchase the supplies for their chosen project after the first class. Sewing tools such as sewing machines, scissors, pins, tape measures, etc. will be provided. All in-class sewing will be supervised. 13 IM-K CS Summer Child Care Program Program Director: Aimee eatangelo, Child Care Supervisor Program Location: North Elementary Child Care - Room 200 Program Fee: $3.00 per hour - $2.00 per hour each additional child Program Times: Starting June 9 th from 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Closed on Friday, July 4 th. ehe last day of summer child care is Wednesday, August 27 th. Program Description: ehe IM-K Community Schools Child Care is for children who are 3 years old to 12 years old. ehe children will participate in many fun activities like arts and crafts, nature walks and gym time. We will also have water fun with the sprinklers and activities for the ehemes of the Week. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided by the Breitung eownship Schools Summer Food Service Program. If you need more information or you would like to enroll your child, please call the IM-K CS Office at Woodland Summer Child Care Program Program Director: Sharon Quick-Dulan, Child Care Supervisor Program Location: Woodland Child Care Center Program Fee: $3.00 per hour - $2.00 per hour each additional child Program Times: Starting June 9 th from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Program Description: Woodland Child Care Center will be providing quality care for children 2-1/2 through 11 years old this summer. ehe program will include arts and crafts, science and exploration activities, computer time, outdoor play and tons of fun!
