1 South Florida School Safety & Security Summit Safer Schools by Design Friday April 5th, 2019 Signature Grand 6900 State Road 84 Davie, FL PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Who We Are We are a group of design and construction professionals, safety & security experts, educators, administrators and local government officials who have been moved by the events that have taken place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Sandy Hook Elementary School, Virginia Tech and too many more of these types of tragedies. We have committed ourselves to identifying facility solutions and sharing information that will result in safe and secure educational environments which allow students and educators to focus on learning without being concerned for their safety.

2 Dear Supporter, We are pleased to announce the South Florida School Safety & Security Summit, also known as SFS4, being held on Friday, April 5th, 2019 at the Signature Grand located at 6900 State Road 84, Davie, FL The Summit will bring together designers, building officials, policy makers, solution providers and others who want to make our public, private and charter K-12 schools as well as higher education institutions safe without making them feel like prisons. The event will focus on physical enhancements that can made to new and existing schools taking into consideration the impacts of those improvements on the building occupants, Senate Bill 9026, building codes, fire safety as well as school operations and culture. Some of the topics to be addressed include Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), Electronic Security Systems, Security Devices, Building Codes, Fire Safety and Lessons Learned from incidents such as Stoneman Douglas High School, Sandy Hook Elementary School, Umpqua Community College and Virginia Tech. Our invited guests include architects, building officials, board members, elected officials, charter schools, contractors, emergency managers, engineers, fire safety officials, law enforcement, parents, planners, private schools, public school facility managers, safety & security vendors, safety consultants, school administrators, state/local school officials, students, and teachers.
