2 Dear Sir / Madam,, Region 5 Workforce Council, is a non-profit workforce development organization that serves as a point of contact for business, industry, and the public sector to identify solutions that address the workforce needs of the region. Our mission is to facilitate a workforce development system that educates, trains, and prepares a workforce to attain economic prosperity in the region. A project of is Career Discovery, an industry-led initiative that targets eighth graders in Autauga, Bullock, Chambers, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Perry, Russell, and Tallapoosa counties. Last year, over 4,000 eighth graders attended this event. Career Discovery pulls together regional industries and businesses within their respective industry sectors to highlight and create hands-on interactions that link careers to the classroom. We want you to be a partner. Your participation as a sponsor of this annual event is an opportunity for you to enrich the lives of students and impact your future workforce. Funders are contributing to, and will be recognized in a number of ways depending on the contribution level. Recognition includes logos posted on the event website and recognition through social media as well as on event signage, student guide, student backpack, and volunteers t-shirt. 3 A fun, educational, hands-on experience for all 8th grade students (public, private, home school, etc.) in, Region 5. Expect to host over 4,000 students, teachers, counselors, parent chaperones, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and exhibitors. An overview of career opportunities available in the area, showcased in 11 career clusters: Agriculture Architecture and Construction Communication and Information Technology Education and Training Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation Manufacturing Automotive Manufacturing Healthcare Public Service (Law, Police, Fire, Corrections, Military, etc.) Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics Energy and Utilities Upon completion of the Career Discovery event students will have other career alternatives to consider when developing their career portfolios.

4 A project of, the Career Discovery, which will be held annually, is an industry-led initiative that pulls together regional industries and businesses to create a hands-on interactive experience that links careers to the classroom. Public and private school eighth grade students (usually years old), from throughout, Region 5, will have an opportunity to visit their favorite industry sectors and learn about careers available close to home. Each student will also receive a Career Discovery Student Guide, which will include information on sample occupations, educational requirements, average salaries, and information on the event s career clusters. The event is expected to host over 4,000 students, teachers, counselors, parent chaperones, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and exhibitors.
