It has also significantly Page 1 of 7

2 improved hygiene behavior by helping communities become open-defecation free, adopt sanitation awareness and hand washing promotion campaigns, and improve sanitation facilities and programs in schools. The project is still working to strengthen the sustainability of these outcomes by bolstering the capacity of provincial, district, and village institutions, and increasing village budgets for operation and maintenance of water and sanitation services. Already more than 90 additional districts have begun replicating the project s community-driven approach.
