To achieve this objective, the project would facilitate access to markets by supporting measures to improve the quality and safety of agricultural products, enhance access to information, and harmonize standards. It will also help to increase the quality, quantity, and relevance of applied agricultural research and facilitate transfer of knowledge to farmers. Performance of the Competitive Grant Scheme is highly satisfactory with program bringing tangible benefits on the ground. Following activities continue their implementation: a) design of the National Reference Laboratory (NRL); b) training of the agricultural specialists (that includes study tours Page 1 of 5

2 abroad); c) extension contracts; d) implementation of the Competitive Grant Scheme. For April 1, 211 the project disbursed total of US$36 mln of which US$13 mln from the WB loan and US$ 23 mln from the Republican Budget.
