Any and all questions can be directed to Paul Carlson Tel: or pagcarlson@myfairpoint.net Town of Milton - Request for Proposal The Town of Milton Fire Department is seeking requests for proposals to renovate and bring up to code the Fire Station located on Route 125 in Milton, NH. Interested Contractors should set up an appointment to review the scope of work and to conduct a walkthrough of the station. Please contact Chief Nick Marique at (603) to make arrangements. The deadline for proposals is due in to the Milton Town Hall at the address below by the end of business on Friday, April 29, Milton Fire Station Renovation Attn: Fire Chief PO Box 310 Milton, NH 03851
3 Milton Fire and Rescue At the March vote, the warrant article for renovating Central Fire Station passed. The next step is to itemize the building specifications to meet the NH State Fire Marshal s and the NH Department of Labor s safety concerns. The proposed corrections to the building will be put out to bid. There is a scheduled day to walk through the building with contractors on Wednesday, April 13 th. This will show the contractors the condition of the building and provide answers to any questions they may have. The tours will be at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Bid Proposals are due back to Milton Fire-Rescue by 6:00 PM on April 29 th, From the bids received, a contractor will be determined and the actual renovations should begin shortly thereafter. Milton Fire-Rescue hopes to complete the work over the next few months and return to the building before summer s end. Meanwhile there are two fund-raisers for Milton Public Safety s Association, a Bangin Jane concert and yard sale (donations gladly accepted). Dates of events are to be announced. These will help offset any new unexpected costs of the building. In addition, the funds raised may be used to help with the design and planning of new construction at 851 White Mountain Highway, the property formerly known as the Moose Club. A building committee is being organized to explore an environmentally friendly and emergency responder ready facility. There are so many things to consider: A public safety complex combining fire and police? A less expensive metal building? A traditional style building? An eco friendly building? Handicap accessibility (single floor or more floors with an elevator) A community function room and kitchen? Current needs verses future growth needs. A new service which Milton Fire-Rescue personnel are implementing is free blood pressure screenings. These take place just prior to Senior Bingo on Tuesday mornings at the Emma Ramsey Center. Our first priority is to respond to emergency calls as they are received; however, if there are no emergencies, you may find EMS personnel downstairs at the Emma on Tuesday mornings from 9-9:45AM. Anyone is welcome to come in for a BP screening. This is not limited to senior citizens. Likewise, if you are interested in tracking your blood pressure yet are not able to be at the Emma on Tuesday mornings, please feel free to call Milton Fire-Rescue at and we will schedule a time that works for you. As spring approaches, please remember to watch for more people out walking and bike riding. The warm weather is surely to arrive soon! At the time this article is being written (March 28), there have been 88 fire calls and 121 EMS calls. Please, wear seatbelts, check and change the batteries in your smoke detectors and as always, Be Safe, practice fire drills.
