3 BUTI Off-Campus Academic Facilities in the Lenox Area 1. Berkshire Country Day School 55 Interlaken Road (Route 183) Stockbridge, MA ! " " " " " " Berkshire Country Day School (BCD) is located " " " " " " approximately 2 miles from BUTI s campus. Select " " " " " " school facilities are used for ensemble rehearsals and private lessons. BUTI buses and the Student Life Staff make routine shuttle trips to BCD to transport students to and from rehearsals and lessons. Approximate Time: 4 minutes Approximate Mileage: 2 miles 1. Turn LEFT out of the main entrance of BUTI, heading west on West Street/MA Route 183 S. 2. Continue to follow Route 183 S, merge LEFT at the fork in the road. 3. Arrive at 55 Interlaken Road on the RIGHT. 2. Lenox Commons - Building 12 Lenox County Shopping Center 55 Pittsfield Road Lenox, MA This space is new to the 2012 season, located in the Lenox County Shopping Center with the popular Chocolate Springs! Building 12 is the farthest building from the entrance to the shopping center, facing you as you drive in. BUTI occupies the right side of the building. It will be used primarily by the Wind Ensemble. Approximate Time: 7 minutes Approximate Mileage: 2.5 miles 1. Turn RIGHT out of the main entrance of BUTI, heading east on West Street/MA Route 183 S toward Yokun Ave. 2. Turn LEFT onto MA-7A N/Main Street. Continue to follow MA-7A N. 3. 4 3. Morris Elementary School 129 West Street Lenox, MA " " " " " " The Morris School is right next door to BUTI! " " " " " " Located only two left turns immediately following " " " " " " BUTI s main entrance, it is used as a practice facility for small ensembles, private lessons, and large choral practices. Approximate Time: 30 seconds Approximate Mileage: 0.3 miles 1. Turn LEFT out of the main entrance of BUTI, heading west on West Street/MA Route 183 S. 2. The Morris School will be on the LEFT. OR Walking Directions (from lower campus): 1. Walk down the main path to lower campus, behind Groton Place. 2. Continue past the Chicken Coop, on the right side of the building. 3. Walk to the soccer field (on the left) and continue past the Stein practice shell. 4. Follow the path straight through the field to a chain link fence 5. The Morris School is at the end of the path 4. Trinity Church 88 Walker Street Lenox, MA The church serves as a performance venue for faculty recitals, small BUTI student ensembles, and workshop recitals. Approximate Time: 1 minute Approximate Mileage: 0.6 miles 1. Turn RIGHT out of the main entrance of BUTI, heading east on West Street/MA Route 183 S toward Yokun Ave. 2. Continue straight through the stop sign. West Street becomes Walker Street. 3. Trinity Church is on the RIGHT. 2

5 5. Lenox Commons - Gazebo Lenox County Shopping Center 55 Pittsfield Road Lenox, MA The gazebo is used as a performance space for Community Outreach Concerts. Approximate Time: 7 minutes Approximate Mileage: 2.5 miles 1. Turn RIGHT out of the main entrance of BUTI, heading east on West Street/MA Route 183 S toward Yokun Ave. 2. Turn LEFT onto MA-7A N/Main Street. Continue to follow MA-7A N. 3. Turn LEFT onto US-20 W/US-7 N/Veterans Memorial Hwy. Continue to follow. 4. Turn LEFT into Lenox Commons. The gazebo is on your LEFT as you drive in, right next to Chocolate Springs. 6. Ventfort Hall Ventfort Hall Mansion and Guilded Age Museum 104 Walker Street Lenox, MA Ventfort Hall Mansion and Guilded Age Museum is a historic mansion and museum located in Lenox, MA. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. BUTI students perform here for certain Community Outreach Concerts. Approximate Time: 1 minute Approximate Mileage: 0.8 miles 1. 6 7. Kimball Farms - 2 locations Location 1: Kimball Farms Life Care Living 235 Walker Street Lenox, MA Both Kimball Farms locations are performance spots for Community Outreach Concerts. Continue STRAIGHT onto Walker Street. 3. Kimball Farms will be on the LEFT. Location 2: Kimball Farms Nursing Care! 7 BUTI Off-Campus Academic Facilities at Tanglewood 1. Tanglewood Main Grounds/Koussevitzky! Music Shed 297 West Street Lenox, MA / " " " " " " Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston " " " " " " Symphony Orchestra and is located less than a mile from BUTI s campus. The grounds passes provided to faculty and students grant you free lawn seating admission to most Tanglewood concerts (excluding a few specified events). BUTI s administrative offices are located on Tanglewood s campus, across from Ozawa Hall. BUTI also utilizes certain facilities on the main grounds for rehearsal and performances purposes. BUTI students will rehearse and perform at the Koussevitzky Music Shed for Tanglewood on Parade. Approximate Time: 2 minutes Approximate Mileage: 1 mile 1. Turn LEFT out of the main entrance of BUTI, heading west on West Street/MA Route 183 S. 2. Continue to follow Route 183 S. 3. Arrive at Tanglewood Main Grounds on the LEFT. 2. Chamber Music Hall " " " " " " The Chamber Music Hall is located on the Main " " " " " " Grounds of Tanglewood, behind the Visitor s " " " " " " Center. The Orchestra and Wind Ensemble use the " " " " " " hall for concert rehearsals and performances. The " " " " " " Student Life Staff is responsible for delivering " " " " " " bagged lunches and/or dinners to the hall for the " " " " " " students when rehearsals and concerts are held " " " " " " there. Directions from Tanglewood Main Grounds: 1. Enter through the main gate and drive to the end of the main driveway. 2. Turn RIGHT, following the dirt road around the parking lot. 3. Turn onto dirt road immediately on the LEFT. 4. Follow the dirt road to the end (notice maintenance sheds on the left and right). 5. The area to drop off and pick up students and/or food is immediately on the LEFT, underneath an awning. (See map next page.) 5

8 !! 3. East Barn & West Barn!! Barn Road (off Hawthorne Road)!! These two facilities are used by the!! large programs for rehearsal spaces.!! Although the buildings are not!! located directly on the Tanglewood!! Main Grounds, they are still!! considered to be a part of!! East! Barn!!! West! Barn! Tanglewood. Approximate Time: 6 minutes Approximate Mileage: 2.4 miles 2. Turn RIGHT onto Old Stockbridge Road at stop sign. 3. Slight RIGHT onto Hawthorne Street at fork. 4. Turn RIGHT onto Hawthorne Road (after passing back entrance to Tanglewood). 5. Turn LEFT onto Barn Road, immediately before the red house on the left. 6. West Barn is the building on the RIGHT, East Barn is the building on the LEFT. 6

9 4.Entrance to Seiji Ozawa Hall Ozawa Hall is located on the Tanglewood Main Grounds. It is the performance space where most Tanglewood chamber concerts, as well as most Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) orchestra concerts, take place. BUTI uses the hall for the final concert series of the large 6-week programs. There are two ways to access the entrance to Ozawa Hall: From Tanglewood Main Entrance: 1. Enter Tanglewood Main Grounds through the Main Gate. 2. Turn LEFT in front of the Main Gate and follow the road. 3. The entrance to Ozawa Hall is the third driveway on the RIGHT. OR From BUTI Campus (45 West Street): 2. Turn RIGHT onto Old Stockbridge Road at stop sign. 3. Slight RIGHT onto Hawthorne Street at fork. 4. Follow the road and take the back entrance (Hawthorne Entrance) to Tanglewood on your RIGHT. 5. Upon entering Tanglewood, the entrance to Ozawa Hall will be the second driveway on the LEFT.!! 10 Hospitals & Health Facilities 1. Berkshire Medical Center 725 North Street Pittsfield, MA Patient Relations: Emergency Department: Express Care Center: 8:00 am - 11:00 pm daily The Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) is the location where students are taken for most medical situations. The Student Life Staff makes frequent trips throughout the summer. The Express Care Center is part of the Emergency Department at the BMC and can be utilized for minor illnesses and injuries. To Schedule an Outpatient Clinical Appointment Call Monday - Thursday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm and Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Approximate Time: 16 minutes Approximate Mileage: 7.8 miles 1. Turn RIGHT out of the main entrance of BUTI, heading east on West Street/MA Route 183 S toward Yokun Ave. 2. Turn LEFT onto MA-7A N/Main Street. Continue to follow MA-7A N. 3. Turn LEFT onto US-20 W/US-7 N/Veterans Memorial Hwy. Continue to follow US-7N. 4. Continue straight onto North Street. 5. Arrive at BMC, 725 North Street on your LEFT. The entrance to the parking garage for all patients and visitors is directly on the right after turning left into the main entrance of the BMC. 8

11 2. Fairview Hospital 29 Lewis Avenue Great Barrington, MA 01230! Patient Relations: Emergency Department: Central Scheduling: Fairview Hospital is part of the Berkshire Health Systems organization, and is partnered with the BMC. Students will occasionally be sent to this location by the medical staff for medical services. How to Make Appointments: To make, cancel, or change an appointment, call Central Scheduling, , between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday - Friday. Outpatient Lab Testing is available on a walk-in basis 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday, and 8:00 am - 11:00 am Saturday. Patients are asked to register at Admitting before proceeding to Laboratory Unit. Approximate Time: 25 minutes Approximate Mileage: 14.2 miles 1. 12 3. Medical Walk-In Clinic 510 North St. #22 Pittsfield, MA Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm No appointment necessary!! The Medical Walk-In Clinic is located on the same street as BMC, just before the medical center on the right hand side of the road. While students are not traditionally taken to this facility, faculty and staff may utilize this office for personal use should the need for medical assistance arise. The clinic also schedules appointments. Approximate Time: 16 minutes Approximate Mileage: 7.5 miles 1. The Medical Walk-In Clinic (510 North St. Pittsfield, MA) will be on the RIGHT.!! 4. Village Pharmacy!! 5 Walker St. #1!! Lenox, MA 01240!! !! Hours of Operation:!! Village Pharmacy is conveniently located in the first floor of the building that is immediately across the street from the Lenox Town Hall. Prescriptions for students are often filled here. Village Pharmacy is on the first floor of the large brick building on the LEFT, immediately after the stop sign and directly across from the Lenox Town Hall. While Village " " " " " " " " Pharmacy is closer to BUTI s campus, CVS " " " " " " " " Pharmacy will most likely be able to fill " " " " " " " " prescriptions that Village Pharmacy may " " " " " " " " not be able to fill. 15 Transportation Locations 1. Albany International Airport 737 Albany Shaker Road Albany, NY Many students arrive at and depart from Albany International Airport. At the beginning and closing of each individual BUTI program, the Transportation Manager and Student Life Staff coordinate and provide transportation to and from the airport. Additionally, trips may be made throughout the summer if any extenuating circumstances should arise. Approximate Time: 1 hour, 8 minutes Approximate Mileage: 50.2 miles *This route has tolls. 1. Continue to follow MA-102 W. (Entering New York) 8. Turn RIGHT onto NY-22 N. 9. Take the I-90 W/NY Thruway ramp to Albany. Toll road 10. Merge onto I-90 W. Toll road 11. 16 2. Amtrak Train Station 1 Columbus Avenue (US Hwy 7) Pittsfield, MA The Amtrak Train Station is another option for students when making travel plans to and from BUTI. There is no ticket office and no individual telephone number. The station does include a small, enclosed waiting area. Tickets must be purchased online and printed prior to departure. Students may ask the Student Life Staff to print their train tickets through the office computers. Their requests are honored at the discretion of the Office Manager and Transportation Manager. The Transportation Manager and Student Life Staff coordinate and provide transportation to and from the train station. Additionally, trips may be made throughout the summer if any extenuating circumstances should arise. Approximate Time: 16 minutes Approximate Mileage: 7.2 miles 2. At the stop sign, turn LEFT onto MA-7A N/Main Street. Continue to follow MA-7A N. 3. Turn LEFT onto US-20 W/US-7 N/Veterans Memorial Hwy. Continue to follow US US-7 N becomes North Street. Continue onto North Street. 5. Turn LEFT onto Columbus Ave/Eagle Street. 6. Arrive at Amtrak Train Station, 1 Columbus Ave on the LEFT. (If you reach Center Street, you ve gone a little too far.) 3. Bus Stop at Lenox Town Hall 6 Walker Street Lenox, MA The Bus Stop is conveniently located directly in front of the main entrance of the Town Hall. The stop is relatively informal, consisting of a simple bench and a bus sign. It most commonly services the Peter Pan bus line. Check the official Peter Pan bus website for ticket availability and bus routes. ( Approximate Time: 52 seconds Approximate Mileage: 0.4 miles 2. At the stop sign, go STRAIGHT through the intersection. The bus stop is on the RIGHT. 14

Conveniently located only half a mile from the BUTI campus, Loeb s Food Town offers everything from everyday food essentials and a superb deli department to fresh rotisserie chickens and home-baked breads.
