6 General Information Optional Program (During Free Time) Seattle Revealed and Underground Tour Sunday, April 12, :45PM 5:30PM Price: $65 per person (An additional fee applies to credit card transactions) This introduction to Seattle features viewing of the city s most famous locations including Pike Place Market, The Arboretum, Pioneer Square, Fisherman s Terminal and the Waterfront. A brief history of Seattle s neighborhoods from Capitol Hill to Chinatown will help to define the boundaries of this unique town. You will also visit the spooky city beneath Seattle s present street level, where you ll learn how the Underground was created. The subterranean walkways are dry, but the history certainly isn t! Learn about Seattle s colorful past; how the Founding Fathers squabbling led to Seattle s complicated street system and how the solutions to the unique plumbing problems affected the town s elevation. This portion of the tour begins inside Doc Maynard s Public House, a restored 1890s saloon. Following a short introduction, you ll walk through historic Pioneer Square to three different sections of Underground about three blocks in all. Register online at Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Clinical Nutrition Management (CNM), a Dietetic Practice Group (DPG) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, is an accredited Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). 20 CPEUs have been requested for Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs). Attendees may also claim up to two (2) CPEUs for attending exhibits. Sessions will be offered as Level 2 or Level 3 training; with options for Learning Need Code categories provided onsite for Professional Development Portfolio activity logging. Handouts The CNM Symposium has gone paperless! This paperless format means that there will no longer be an educational session handout book. Instead, all registrants will receive instructions after they have registered to attend the symposium on how to access session handouts. With this online format, speakers will have the flexibility to offer additional resources previously not printed in the handout book due to space restrictions and will allow attendees time to review educational session handouts prior to the symposium. Please be sure to download the handouts prior to traveling to Seattle, as complimentary Internet will not be provided in the meeting room. Ground and Air Transportation The Fairmont Olympic Hotel is located approximately 25 minutes from Seattle-Tacoma Airport by taxi. The average one-way taxi fare is $45. The Shuttle Express Airporter bus takes approximately 40 minutes from the airport to the Fairmont in normal traffic. Link Light Rail, operated by Sound Transit, departs daily from SeaTac Airport every 10 to 15 minutes and charges $2.50 each way.
