3 From the WPELRA President Welcome to the 2017 Wisconsin Public Employer Labor Relations Association training conference. We have an abundance of great training sessions and networking opportunities for you. CLE credit opportunities are available as well. The Radisson Paper Valley Hotel is a wonderful facility. Be sure to review the agenda or map to locate the rooms each session will be in. The conference materials will be in electronic form and will not be provided in hard copy. Should you wish to print the information from the conference app, please do so prior to the conference so you are ready to go. The Radisson Hotel does have a business center where you may be able to print it if needed. With the help of Mike Deiters, Patrick Glynn, and Frank Matel, the NPELRA Scholarship Foundation Auction will be back with great items to be auctioned off. Be sure to join in for the cause. Should you wish to provide items to be auctioned off, please bring them with you. On your free time, be sure to check out downtown Appleton. The Radisson Paper Valley hotel is within walking distance of downtown restaurants and attractions. The About Me Card system will help individuals to improve communication with each other while holding each other accountable. The About Me Card is used as an interpersonal communication tool to express motivational strengths and to reveal how an individual wants to be treated.

The discussion will include governance structure, plan design, investment policy statements, vendor review and selection, employee education and on-going compliance monitoring. B3: INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES FOR SELF-FUNDED HEALTH PLANS Presented by: Sara Hames, Vice President Hays Company Self-funding allows employers the flexibility and creativity to engage members in taking accountability for their own health. Fortunately, there are many existing programs and partners available that offer real solutions, enabling members to find the path to sustainable health and affordability. This presentation will focus on innovative strategies including Narrow Networks, Onsite Clinics, Telemedicine, and Centers of Excellence/Medical Tourism. B4: ERD / EEOC Complaint Process Cases and Current Hot Topics for 2017 Presented by: Kevin Terry, Attorney Ruder Ware Join Attorney Kevin Terry in this session about the Equal Rights Division and the complaint process. He will explain how confidence barriers stalled his career and can cause any leader or organization to feel stuck. He will share the research he discovered after studying people who loved their work. He will teach the pattern that people use to find Authentic Confidence and share his proprietary assessment called the Authentic Confidence Quotient (ACQ). In this self-assessment you will learn about your confidence barriers and how to overcome them. You will also learn how confidence barriers affect engagement in teams. Kathleen will share her personal experience with the workplace tragedy at her company and the lessons she learned. BREAK p4: ACTIVE Killer PRESENTATION Presented by: Detective Rick Place Grant County Sheriff s Department This session will focus on how to respond to an active killer at work by reviewing real events and getting law enforcement s perspective. Rick will walk us through examples and provide us with practical tools to use as a defense. WPELRA will once again be providing the Guidebook app to be used during your time at the conference.
