Many thanks to both organizations for supporting the Hampden Senior Center! Greetings! I walked out the door this morning and a cool breeze blew across my face and carried with it the sweet smell of lilacs and lily of the valley a beautiful spring scent that I ve been waiting for!! Hope you are enjoying the warmer weather and all of the sounds and sights of this beautiful season. There are so many great things happening this month! Saturday, June 4 th at 10:00 A.M. join us for the Go The Distance statewide 1 mile walk challenge. More details can be found inside the scribe. This will be a fun day with free gifts and goodies and exercise! (Rain date is June 11 th ) Tuesday, June 14 th we will celebrate Flag Day with a delicious lunch and great entertainment. Thursday June 16 th we will give thanks for Dad s at our Father s Day Breakfast. Our Saturday night dinner dances have started up again and we are having a great time! Join us for the next one on Saturday June 25 th. Sign up early as these events sell out. Thursday night events start this month and we hope that you will take part in these fun evenings. The schedule of events is located in this scribe and, as always, we ask you to sign up in advance so we know how many people to plan for. 6 ASPIRATIONS/BUCKET LISTS: FRIDAY, JUNE 17th from 10-11:30am A motivational class to help individuals discover strategies to align personal goals with societal benefits, linking what they would like to do with why they would like to do it. Both classes are FREE and include a morning snack and lunch! Space is limited, so please call to sign up! The Aging Mastery Program (AMP) is designed to inform, encourage and support older adults as they take steps to improve their lives and stay engaged in their communities. This program made possible through a grant awarded to the from the Massachusetts Association of Councils on Aging by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Shingo! Thursday, June 16th, 12Noon A presentation about shingles and also some fun with rounds of bingo! Enjoy a talk hosted by a Raya Dixon, wellness ambassador with Rite Aid, who s job is to bring health and wellness awareness to the senior community. The talk will be about the importance of the Shingles vaccination and will discuss what shingles is. Also enjoy a game of bingo with your peers. Please sign up at the front desk!
