1 Bethel Christian Academy Trojan Talk September 2016 Class Fees Lab/Class Fees have been charged to your account according to the following classes: Biology, Chemistry, Drama, Choir, Jr. High Choir, Sr. High Choir, and King s Kids (4 th -5 th ) Driver Education JDS of the Carolinas will be having a Driver Education Class beginning September 6 at North Lenoir. You do not have to sign-up prior to the first day of class. Dates: Sept. 6,7,8,12,13,14,15,19,20,21 Sept. 22 will be a make-up day. Time: 3:00 to 6:00 PM Location: North Lenoir Cafeteria Materials needed: pen, pencil, notebook Students must be 14 1/2 to take the class. 2 Closed Campus Reminder Below is the policy for Closed Campus as stated on page 20 of the Student Handbook. BCA operates a closed campus. This means that attendance is required from the regular start of school until the normal dismissal time. Any free periods a student might have are to be spent in an assigned area on campus. Students will not be permitted to go off campus to run errands. No student is to be on school property at any time without adult supervision. This includes the gym, playground, and classrooms. Since we are a Closed Campus, students will not be permitted to leave campus during lunch time. The students are required to remain in the cafeteria during the lunch break from 11:45 AM 12:15 PM each day. Please let your child know they should not request permission to leave for lunch. Requests to checkout during lunch will only be granted to students when deemed necessary by the parent and the principal for special/unusual circumstances or emergencies. Seniors are allowed to eat off campus on Wednesdays as a senior privilege. Kid-O-lympics Saturday, September 17th All 1 st -5 th graders are invited to come have a great day of fun at Bethel. DROP-OFF PICK-UP BCA Gym BCA Gym 12:45p-1:00p 3:30p Health Concerns We are asking that children who are sick be fever free or nausea free for at least 24 hours without medication before returning to school. This will help to prevent the spread of viruses to classmates and help students who have been ill to recover completely. Inclement Weather Reminder Information will be sent out by School Cast or School Dynamics. (phone numbers and ). For inclement weather days or early closings tune to: WAGO 88.7 WITN TV7 WNCT TV9 WCTI TV12 In the media, look for Bethel Christian Academy-Kinston. We do not necessarily follow Lenoir County school procedures. 2
3 ATHLETICS Athletic Physicals All students (6th-12th grade) who will participate in athletics at Bethel must have a new completed physical on file before tryouts. A physical form has been attached to this for your convenience or you may get a copy from the school office. Fall Sports Come and cheer on our BCA athletes at our home games for: JV & Varsity Girls Volleyball Varsity Boys Soccer JV & Varsity Football BCA Athletics The athletic program at Bethel Christian Academy exists for the purpose of developing physical, personal, and spiritual skills of the student-athlete that will have lifelong benefits. In providing opportunities for interscholastic competition, the athletic department seeks to support the overall mission of the school, and to promote the Biblical ideal that everything should be done to glorify God (I Corinthians 10:31) The athletic schedules are on page 5-6. They are also available on our webpage. Would you like to know more information about our games? You can view rosters and get up-to-date scores and stats by visiting MaxPreps online at (copy and paste link). High School Cube The next best thing to being able to be at the games...watch live broadcasts online at Just create an account and you will receive a notice when a game is being broadcast.
