Matthew 5:16 OUTWARD BEAUTY ISN'T EVERYTHING! Society, commercials, magazine pictures, Hollywood, etc. would want us to believe that outward beauty is so important. People are not happy with the way they look and they now have a procedure that would change any part of you in your outward appearance. Billions of dollars are spent on improving our outward appearance. This is such a problem, that we find all these various weight loss programs or pills to make us thin to improve our outward beauty. We have a huge problem in our country with anorexia and bulimia with young girls and women. Young boys and men struggle with weight problems as well, along with wanting to look more muscular. Beauty is much more than an outward appearance, but it is mentioned in biblical times as well. The bible tells us that the Egyptians thought that Abraham's wife Sarah was a very beautiful woman. It says that Rebekah, was a very beautiful girl. Absalom, the son of David, was a very handsome man. Our chapel lesson for this week was about Leah, the oldest daughter of Laban. Scripture says that she had weak eyes. Jacob fell in love with Rachel, the younger sister, and worked for his father-in-law for 14 years before being able to marry Rachel due to Laban's deceitfulness. God did bless Leah and remembered her, as He blessed her with 6 children. God is interested in our inward beauty. How do we feel about our God? Do we fear, love, and trust in Him above all things? Is our inward beauty shown through our actions and behavior? There is nothing wrong with outward beauty, but it is important that our inward beauty shows itself. All God's children need to know that He loves each and every one of them so much, that He sent his Son, Jesus, to redeem them. Jesus showed His great love by stretching out His arms, and was nailed to a cross to die a horrible death that should have been each of ours. We give thanks to God for giving us our inner beauty in and through Christ, which had its beginning at our baptism. Through the Word and Sacraments we are strengthened in our faith, so that each day we may grow in our inward beauty and live each day showing our inward beauty through our love for Jesus. Next week s Bible verse: Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam, so drop the matter before the dispute breaks out. Proverbs 17:14 (OVER)

2 IMPORTANT VOTERS MEETING THIS SATURDAY AT 6:15 P.M. Our Bi-Annual Voter's meeting is being held this Saturday evening, November 15th after the 5:00 p.m. service in the church. All members of our congregation are invited to attend. We will be voting on some key proposals. We will be voting on whether or not we should be a part of the Milwaukee Choice Program for the school year. We will also listen to a presentation about our congregational Vision Plan and key parts of that plan, followed by a vote to adopt the plan. We will be offering a place for students to go during the meeting while the adults have the meeting should parents want to use it. We will be showing Veggie Tale movies in the Fellowship Hall for the children and asking 7th & 8th graders to assist. We will also have a couple of adults there as well. FAMILY NIGHT AT FUDDRUCKERS, NOVEMBER 20TH Family Night at Fuddruckers evening, November 20th (all just west of the north side of sheet flyer with you to make credit for your purchases. is this coming Thursday day). Fuddruckers is located Brookfield Square. Take the half sure that St. Paul's receives Thank you for your support! HELP! HELP! HELP! We need some dads to step forward and give us a hand this winter with removing snow on Saturdays and Sundays. Both of our custodians are not able to help this winter as has been in the past. We have a tractor snow blower and other snow throwers, but need the manpower to work the machines and shovels as needed. Please volunteer to help. Our goal would be that with enough help people would be assigned only a couple of weekends during the winter season. Help is also needed for "Door Check". Each night we would ask that someone walk around the outside of our 2 facilities and check to make sure that the doors are locked. With enough door checkers it would be only a few weeks a year with door check happening between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. We have had a couple of volunteers but need more to share with these two tasks. Please call the school office at to tell us that you would like to have the opportunity to help our church and school out. ESPN EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDENT-PARENT NIGHT 3K-2ND This coming Wednesday evening between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the ECC, 3K-2nd grade parents and students will have a fellowship night with foods, crafts, and fun. We hope that students and parents can attend.

3 FOR 4K-8TH GRADE STUDENTS There is a Professional Church Workers Conference on Friday, so there is no school for the 4K - 8th graders. THE 2 DAY A WEEK 3K CHILDREN WILL HAVE SCHOOL ON FRIDAY WITH MRS. VAN DYKE FROM 8:00 A.M. UNTIL 10:30 A.M. THERE IS NO CHILD CARE FOLLOWING THE 3K CLASS. SPIRIT WEEK NEXT WEEK NOVEMBER Monday Comfy Pants Day Wear Sweat Pants, Wind pants, Lounge Pants. Must be in good repair. No jeans with holes in the knees or elsewhere. Friday Panther Pride Day Wear school colors of red, black, and white. ATTENTION BAND MEMBERS Band members should plan on meeting in room 104 at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 21st to rehearse before the girls' basketball game. We will play for the first St. Paul's game of the tournament which starts at 7:30 p.m. This does not include beginning band students yet. They will be in the pep band for the boys' tournament in February. JR. HIGH (GRADES 6-8) YOUTH EVENT Here is the updated info for the youth event on November 16th. We will be gathering at Mike and Crystal Barry's home in Franklin 4236 Tumblecreek Dr Due to an NFL time change, the Packer party will be from 3-6 now, as the game was moved to the late game with a 3:15 kickoff. We will be having chili and hotdog supper. Youth are asked to bring treats to share if possible. RSVP'S are appreciated to help with planning to ssmajn@yahoo.com. GIRL'S TOURNAMENT FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21ST AFTER SCHOOL & SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND We need your help with donations and working at the tournament. (OVER)

4 WINTER TODDLER CLASS BEGINS JANUARY 6 TH 2015 Our toddler class begins again for children ages 2-3 to be accompanied by a parent or other adult relative. The new session begins Tuesday, January 6 th from 6-7:15 p.m. at the ECC. This is a great opportunity for adults and their little ones to interact with each other and with children their own age. This program is open to any 2 or 3 year old not currently attending our day school program. If you know neighbors or friends, please invite them to come. The cost is $65 for the 7 week program beginning January 6 th. Mrs. Shemanske (ext. 2503) can provide you with more details should you have a question. Registration forms are available at the back of church or in the school office. PENNY WARS In addition to all the other fun and excitement during tournament Spirit Week, we will once again add a friendly competition of Penny Wars. Students will have the opportunity to compete against different classes while working together as an entire school to raise money for Pastor Charles Ferry. Pastor Ferry is a graduate of St. Paul s and is currently serving in Indonesia. He is the primary contact between the residents of Indonesia and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Not only will this event raise money, it will serve as the tie breaker, if necessary, for the spirit week competition. If you are not familiar with Penny Wars, here s how they work: Pennies, $1 bills, and $1 GOLD coins count as positive. All silver change counts as negative. If you bring in pennies or dollars, you ll want to put them in your class s container. If you bring in silver coins, you ll put them in another class s container. Let s say a class has $1.85 in paper and pennies and $.50 in silver, their total would be $1.35. Let s say another class has $1.00 bill and $1.25 in silver. Their current total would be negative $.25. We will be announcing totals daily, so students can be strategic in where they place their nickels, dimes and quarters. There will be a set of containers at each building so students can put money towards or against any grade. Here are the teams: K3 and K4; 5K; 1; 2; 3 & 4; 5; 6; 7; 8.
