3 Third Sunday of Easter 15 April 2018 COLLABORATIVE NEWS RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FATHER JOE D ONOFRIO After four years of faithful service to the parishioners of the Quincy Catholic Collaborative, Cardinal Sean will be assigning Fr. Joe to a new parish on June 1, To express our appreciation to Fr. Joe for his priestly ministry, a reception in his honor will take place on Sunday, May 27 th, following the 11 AM Mass at St. Ann Parish Hall. All are invited to attend and express their thanks to Father Joe. OUR BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP Our group will meet Thursday, April 19 th from 7 to 8:30 PM in the parish hall at Sacred Heart. If you have experienced the loss of a loved one and would like to meet in an atmosphere of compassion and confidentiality, please join us. The facilitators are Simone Leary and Cathleen Rowland. For additional information, please contact Sacred Heart rectory at PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY If you know of anyone who is sick, elderly, a new mother or baby that would be comforted by having a prayer shawl made by the women of our collaborative, please call St. Ann rectory. The shawls are blessed by our collaborative priests. BOOK CLUB Our next Book Club Meeting will be held on Sunday, April 22 nd at 6:30pm in the lower church hall at Sacred Heart. The book we will be discussing is China Dolls by Lisa See. This superb novel portrays the intricate relationships of 3 young women from very different backgrounds that meet by chance. It is a fascinating history of life in San Francisco in CATHOLIC WOMEN S CLUB FUNDRAISER CONCERT Save the date for the Catholic Women s Club Fundraiser Evening of Barbershop Harmony on Saturday, April 28 th at 6PM in St. Mary Parish Hall (handicap access). Tickets are $20 each and are available in March. Contact Sacred Heart Parish for tickets See old friends, meet new friends, and have fun, in faith, to help our community. The next Catholic Women s Club meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10 th at 6:30 PM in the parish hall at Sacred Heart. All women are welcome to attend. OPERATION RICE BOWL DONATIONS DUE THIS WEEK To all who participated in Operation Rice Bowl this Lent: Through our Lenten prayers and donations, we have touched the lives of millions of people served by Catholic Relief Services, our representative to the poorest communities in the world. We ask that you please convert your rice bowl donations to dollar bills or a check and put it in an envelope marked Rice Bowl and deliver it to your parish office this week. Thank you for your generosity. BULLETIN DEADLINE: All items must be submitted in writing, preferably by , no later than noon, two Fridays before the publication date. Elementary Collaborative Classes There are no classes for Grades 1-5 this Sunday morning, April 15 th due to school vacation week. Classes will resume next Sunday, April 22 nd for the last class session. EASTER SEASON SCRIPTURE STUDY Celia Sirois continues a 5-week study series during the Easter Season on Tuesdays through May 1 st in the parish hall at Sacred Heart. The sessions will run from 10am to noon and will focus on the Easter Mystery. The suggested donation is $5/person per session. Reservations are not necessary, but be sure to bring your Bible! HOPE AND STRENGTH PRAYER GROUP The next prayer group will meet Tuesday, May 3 rd in the chapel at Sacred Heart at 7 PM for an hour of prayerful devotion to the Blessed Mother including praying the rosary, times of silence and guided prayer. The second annual Children s Bible Experience will be held in the parish hall at Sacred Heart Church, Monday through Friday, June 25-29, from 9am to 1 pm. Bible stories, skits, crafts and snacks will be included in the program for kids entering grades 2 to 5. Fliers and applications will appear in the parish bulletin in the near future. A week-long summer program of fun, singing, and learning about our Catholic worship through times of prayer, activities, games, crafts and videos. August 6-10, 9am to 3:30pm. MEN S SCRIPTURE DISCUSSION The Men s Scripture Discussion Group meets every Saturday morning from 8 to 9 AM in St. Ann lower church hall. 4 MAY PROCESSION Our annual May Procession & Crowning in honor of the Blessed Mother is scheduled for Sunday, May 6 th after the 11AM Mass in Saint Ann Church. The procession will begin in and return to the church. Following the Crowning, light refreshments will be served at St. Ann Parish Hall.
