Created new committees: Nomination Committee (to handle elections), Professional Development Committee (organize activities), Norwich Liaison Committee (to hear Norwich campus concerns), Educational Technology Committee (to give input on all technologies with an impact on teaching). Reorganized faculty/staff handbook and linked it to appropriate College Senate Committees. Redesigned continuing appointment and promotion procedures and criteria. Began a faculty development program to 2011 Steering Committee for Middle States Accreditation Work Group leader overseeing the data gathering for the self-study focusing on Standard 12- General Education and Standard 13- Other Educational Offerings. Wrote the draft for the two standards later incorporated into the overall self-study to 2011 Academic Affairs Committee, Liberal Arts Representative, The committee serves as the opportunity for students and faculty from across campus to comment on new courses/programs and changes to existing courses/programs. May to October 1997 Dissertation Research in Moscow, Russia Chosen as one of eight to participate in the Summer Archival and Research Opportunity, a joint program of the State Archive of the Russian Federation (GARF) and the Center for the Study of Russia and the Soviet Union (now called Praxis International). This program involved a two-week orientation and tour of major archives and libraries in the city of Moscow, the identification of a local scholar as a mentor, and the negotiation of permissions to use archives needed by the participants. Conducted research at the Russian State Library, the Central Historical Archive of Moscow, and the Moscow Mathematical Society Archives in the Department of Higher Geometry at Moscow State University.
