5 PRESENTATIONS / CONFERENCES Defining Feminism: Construction and Assumptions of Identity. Presentation as part of LSU Women s Center s Women s History Month seminar series, March, SILENCE/SILENCED/SNARED: Against Reading Machines Alabama Philosophical Society: Annual Conference, Orange Beach, AL October 25 27, This essay deals with the works of Martin Heidegger as viewed from a feminist perspective with the intention of suggesting alternative, feminist readings of Heidegger s corpus. Sous Rature: Inscribing Nothing Into the Heart of Being Alabama Philosophical Society: Annual Conference, Orange Beach, AL. October 24 26, Herein, I will delineate the difference between the Derridian reading of Being and Heidegger s intent. Through a discussion of the Greek notion of truth and how it refers to both truth and untruth simultaneously, the Derridian reading of this graphic structure, and Heidegger s own work, I hope to clarify this particular structure of double meaning in an attempt to argue that both descriptions seem equally valid.
