2 WELCOME Hello! We are very excited to welcome you to the Creighton community. The Summer Preview staff would like to help you Ignite your Passion throughout your years here. Students, this is your new home. We challenge you to explore this unknown territory. We encourage family members to learn about all the opportunities Creighton has to offer your student. Attend as many programs as possible and, of course, have fun along the way. The students in the poppy shirts - our acclaimed Summer Preview Guides - are here to help you throughout your time here. Ask them questions. Ask them anything. They know it all, from how to get involved to the difference between Dining Dollars and JayBucks. The Guides are truly the experts on campus. We hope you enjoy your preview of Creighton. If there s anything we can do to make your visit more accommodating, please let us know. Welcome to the family. Tours are available from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a small group tour and learn more about campus from our knowledgable and experienced tour guides. Residence Hall Showrooms Living on campus? Check out a room in your future residence hall! Get ideas for furniture arrangements and ask Guides for advice about what to bring. Showrooms will be available for viewing from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Signs in the lobby of each residence hall will direct you to the correct showroom.

Placement/Competency Exams Did you register to take an exam in Chemistry or Modern Languages? If so, they are taking place from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The Chemistry exam will be held in Hixson- Lied Science room 244. The Modern Languages exam will be held in Humanities Center room 215. Good luck!

Student Session - Harper Center (HC) Auditorium Students will have the opportunity to ask Guides questions. Small Group Meetings & CU Immersion - Harper Center (HC) Auditorium A day in the life of a Creighton student! Students will explore technology and dialogue with peers, faculty, and Jesuit priests. University Welcome & Lunch - Harper Center (HC) Ballroom Meet fellow students and enjoy a delicious meal. After lunch, Creighton administrators and Summer Preview staff host a formal welcome. Academics 101 Time for class! Meet the Dean of your respective college/school to get a feel for what you can expect in the fall. If so, this session is for all our Jays in the City. Families may then voice questions and concerns to a panel of Preview Guides, the real experts on college life. Info Booths & Ice Cream - Skutt Student Center (SSC) 104, 105 and 209 Campus departments will be available to answer questions about services offered at Creighton. There will be ice cream, too! Showrooms and Tours Showrooms will be available in each residence hall. If you want a tour, Guides will be stationed at the Skutt Student Center fireplace. Tours start on the half hour. Creighton Lingo Embrace the lingo. Below are some of the most common terms easily explained for you. The Bean: The bean-shaped patio located between Skutt Student Center and Kiewit Hall. Billy: Full name Billy the Bluejay, Billy is Creighton s mascot. Candlelight: Candlelight Mass takes place at 10 p.m. on Sunday nights in St. John s. The Creightonian: Creighton s student newspaper. CSU: Creighton Students Union is the representative body for Creighton students. Decurion: A junior or senior student who serves as a peer leader to assist the Faculty Preceptor in RSP 100. Faculty Preceptor: The faculty member that teaches RSP 100 and continues as a student s academic advisor through their first year. IRHG: Inter-Residence Hall Government The KFC: The Kiewit Fitness Center The Mall: The pedestrian mall extends from Gallagher Hall to Morrison Soccer Stadium. Got questions?
