This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it; You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Adult: In a practical sense, what is one thing that would change in your life if you loved your neighbor as yourself? Child: Why is it hard sometimes to love your neighbor? How can you do a better job of following Jesus commandment? HOMEBOUND MEALS NEEDS YOU! Homebound Meals, Inc has a need for people to volunteer once a week about two hours a day to deliver meals to the homebound during the lunch hour. The mission to save unborn babies and their mothers from abortion can only happen through the generous outpouring of time by dedicated pro-life volunteers, whose efforts multiply the reach in the community and the promotion of a culture of life. Proceeds benefit our parish and parish school. COMMEMORATION OF ALL SOULS Next Sunday, November 2, is the Commemoration of All Souls. As a Parish Community we will be praying for all parishioners who died in the past year and acknowledge them BY NAME as part of the prelude at the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses. The commemoration will begin 5 minutes before the start of Mass. THE BOOK OF ETERNAL LIFE Remember Those Who Have Gone Before Us The Book of Eternal Life will be located in Church near the charred cross. Please feel free to enter the names of your loved ones who have died, whom you would like remembered during the month of November. MARKET DAY PICK-UP TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28 5:30 P.M. CAFETERIA ST. Many vendors converge to sell hand crafted Fall and Christmas items, sweatshirts, blankets, jewelry, wood crafts, art work, games, baked goods and much, much more. A lunch is available as well as other sweet and savory treats. The Annual All Souls Day Service will be held at the Catholic Cemetery s Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel, 3500 Lake Ave., F.W., on Sunday, November 2, 12 Noon, at which time Bishop Kevin Rhoades will offer Mass for all those buried in the Catholic Cemetery and elsewhere. CHARLES BORROMEO CATHOLIC CHURCH SCRIP NEWS (260) SCRIP Office Come Trick-or-Treating! - Be sure to place an order this Friday - everyone who places an order of $100 or more this Friday, October 31, will receive a trick-or-treat bag. Each bag will contain an edible treat then some have a "trick" while others will have a "SCRIP treat." You have to place an order to win. A Month of Thanks - November is the month when we celebrate Thanksgiving. SCRIP will join that tradition with two great "Thank You" promotions. Anyone who places an order Nov of $100 or more is automatically entered into our drawing for a new snow blower! If the Farmer's Almanac is correct, it will be a great prize. The second giveaway is for our Kroger customers. Anyone who reloads your Kroger card between the dates of Nov. 2-29, will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $250 SCRIP gift certificate - just in time for holiday shopping! INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK JUST NEIGHBORS (NEW NAME) Just Neighbors is located just down the street on State Street, temporarily houses homeless families it is the only facility in Fort Wayne to offer emergency temporary shelter for families. We need your help! St. Charles Parish has signed up to help with providing meals for one week, the week of December All we need is for you to look at your calendars, and see what day or days you would be available to bring a prepared dish (a main dish, or a vegetable, or a salad, or a dessert). Then on November 22/23, we will have signup sheets in the back of Church for you to volunteer what food item you will bring. We also need people to help with activities for children since we all know that kids are done with their meal first before the adults! This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us here at St. Charles to address the emergency shelter needs of homeless families. FORT WAYNE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity is continuing to build the Catholic home that they are partnering with local area Catholic parishes. Volunteers are still needed to help side the rest of the home and help get it weather tight before winter arrives! No prior construction experience is required! Build days typically run Tuesday-Saturday for at least the next two months. Interested individuals or groups that would like to volunteer or provide a meal can simply contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Laura Oberholtzer, (260) or at loberholtzer@fortwaynehabitat.org.
