3 Advisory Board Opposes Proposition 5b The University Advisory Board for Cal State, San Bernardino has unanimously opposed Proposition 36, the Jarvis initiative, because of its negative impact on the CSU. In its action, taken in a meeting Tuesday evening on campus, the board joined the CSU Board of Trustees in expressing strong oppostition to the passage of Proposition 36. Passage of the Jarvis initiative, the board resolved, would have a direct effect on the CSU by interfering with the university's ability to levy student fees in a fiscally sound manner and by limiting the conditions under which revenue bonds can be sold. The result would be an impairment of the university's ability to provide full, quality education to its students. The Advisory Board is composed of 13 civic leaders and educators from throughout the service area of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Titled "Joe Moran - Diaries," the exhibit will consist of 20 books featuring original ideas and images organized as a daily documentation of the artist's ideas and perception of the world. According to Moran, his work, influenced by Chicano imagery, depicts America. "We are accepting our authority figures without question," he explained. "Our constitutional rights are being taken away. I'm at fault because I don't know how to speak up, so I speak through my work." Moran began working on his books in November, 1979, and often uses his ideas to expand into larger pieces, some of which will be on display with his books. The exhibit will continue through Dec. 19. Monday through Friday. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. TriCk-Or-Treat! when you hear the pitter-patter of little feet and the cheers of "TRICK-OR-TREAT?!!" ringing through the halls on Wednesday, Oct. 31, don't seek out an emergency escape route! It's just the ghosts, goblins and ghouls from the Children's Center on their annual Halloween parade to collect goodies from campus offices. According to Pam Dortch, director, these pint-sized candy snatchers will decorate a tram and parade through Student Services, Administration, Health Center, Library, Commons, Student Union and the dorms. "About 50 kids will come in costume," said Dortch. "We'll have a party after lunch and then a carnival with games." Dortch says this has been a tradition on campus for several years and the only way to escape is to keep your door closed. But then, you're not afraid of ghosts... are you?
