The interaction between normative processes of aging and a history of prior traumatic experiences in older individuals will be discussed, as it might complicate adaptation to aging and end of life. Approaches to the treatment and management of traumarelated reactions and behaviors in aging individuals will be presented. Irit V. Felsen, Ph.D., clinical psychologist/adjunct professor, Yeshiva University, Mountain Lakes, NJ 10:15 10:30 a.m. Refreshment break/hotel check-out 10:30 a.m. Noon Concurrent sessions: 1) Non-Pharmacological Approach Through Therapeutic Recreation Interventions This session will focus on providing person-centered care and improved dementia care while reducing psychotropic drug use. Our presenter will also provide a better understanding of how to care for a registrant when they display this behavior. In order to be able to provide sensitive and good treatment, it is very important that health care providers working with older individuals and their families be familiar with the causes and behaviors associated with post-traumatic reactions. An integration of findings from social psychology and even more recent findings from the new discipline of social neuropsychology will be offered. Irit V. Felsen, Ph.D., clinical psychologist/adjunct professor, Yeshiva University, Mountain Lakes, NJ
