If we need information form this form we will contact you. Council Contingent: The Buckeye Council is allocated a contingent of 2 Boy Scout Troops (total of 72 youth ages 12 up to 18; and 8 adult leaders over age 21) and 1 Venture Patrol (8 coed youth ages 14 up to 21; 1 adult male leader and 1 adult female leader over age 21) Dates: (preliminary to be confirmed) Lock-in overnight Canton July 18, 2017 Location? July 19 to July 28, 2017 Jamboree Program at The Summit, WV Return to Canton July 28, 2017 Qualifications: Scouts: Be at least a First Class Scout at time of attendance at Jamboree; must be at least 12 years of age by July 19, 2017 or an 11 year old that has graduated the 6th grade and have not reached his 18th birthday by 7/28/13. Be approved by unit Scoutmaster. Venturers: Have graduated 8th grade or be at least 14 years of age by 7/19/2017, but have not reached their 21st birthday by 7/28/2017. Be approved by Crew Advisor. All: Be approved by the Buckeye Council Jamboree Committee. Registration: Complete the council registration form; complete the National on-line registration. ( and make $100 deposit Activities: Encampment at the Summit: Activities include whitewater rafting, zip-lining, forest canopy touring, rappelling, mountain biking, hiking, archery, buckskin games, confidence course, conservation programs, scuba, and more. Action centers with rappelling towers are truly popular, as are trap shooting, an American Indian village, and the opening and closing arena shows, not to mention many other activities. It's Scouting at its very best! Financial Details: The total estimated cost for each participant is $1,350. This cost is preliminary and subject to change if there is a significant change in the national fee or fuel costs. The cost includes transportation, meals en route to and from the jamboree, special patches, patrol and troop equipment, and Jamboree training meetings. A payment schedule is attached with installments due beginning with registration, and the final payment due March When National Scholarships become available the scholarship form will be posted. Subsequent Payments are non-refundable unless the contingent is full and the individual slot is reassigned to another youth from the waiting list and fees are paid by the wait list youth. The total cost of $1,350 is based on projected costs for the national fee and projected transportation costs. 5 NATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING TO ATTEND THE 2017 NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE Page 1 Overview: The only place where you can apply to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree is at the home of the Summit on the Web: Starting in the spring of 2015, interested applicants can apply to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree as a youth participant, adult leader, or volunteer staff. Conditions apply for each of these categories. Please refer to the website above for the latest details. This document is intended to provide you with instructions to guide the application process. Any questions you have about the application process can be directed to 2017Jamboree@scouting.org. Starting in the summer of 2016, visitors will be eligible to register to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree. Prerequisites: The following conditions must be met for you to be eligible to apply: 1. The standard conditions identified for each application, found on the website and referenced above. An example of one such condition is that all applicants must be currently registered with the BSA. 2. The application candidate must have access to the website: 3. The application candidate must have a Summit account. (Start by selecting Get Started at the top of 4. The application candidate must have linked their BSA membership information with their Summit account. This will be a prompt immediately after creating an account, which can later be accessed by the following routing: selecting myscoutbase at the top of the site, selecting My Account, and then Link My Membership. When linking the membership information, the information entered must match the information on the local council s membership records. Any difference in the data will cause the membership to not appear valid and an error message will result. 5. Scouts and crew members that are currently under 18 years of age can create their own account, link their own membership information and submit their own application to attend the 2017 jamboree; however, parental consent will be required after the submission of their application. 6 NATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING TO ATTEND THE 2017 NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE Page 2 Applying: Once the prerequisites have been met, the application candidate can select the Apply Now link found below the 2017 Jamboree listing on the Summit main menu: 1. The first page all application candidates will see is a statement of how all attendees need to Be Prepared for the 2017 National Scout Jamboree. Acceptance of understanding this information at the bottom of the page is a requirement to continue. 2. The second page all application candidates will see provides an additional welcome. This page requires selection of the application type that the candidate is interested in accessing to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree (many application candidates will have only one choice, depending on their membership status 3. The next three pages shown are the application itself. Although most are common, the questions associated with each of the applications vary due to the particular requirements of each. Therefore, if child and parent are both applying to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree, they will be seeing different questions. The required fields on each application are clearly marked with a red asterisk. It is recommended that the applicant save their information regularly. The applicant will be allowed to save their incomplete application information in order to return at a later date. Only fully completed applications (that is applications where all required questions have been answered) will be allowed to be submitted. If you attempt to submit an incomplete application, you will receive an error message stating its incomplete state, and the missing questions will be highlighted. 4. You may return to your application at any time by once again selecting the Apply Now link on the main page of the website, which will take you to your Application Dashboard once an application has been started. Select Review or Modify to continue. 5. Note for Applicants Who Are Minors: As stated above, all minors are required to have parental consent for applying to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree. To provide parental consent, the parent will need to submit the attached National form to the local council. 6. Note for Volunteer Staff Applicants: Upon submission of your completed application, you will be routed to a payment screen. A deposit is a mandatory requirement for your application to be considered fully submitted. (This is not applicable for youth participants) 6 9/11/2015

Upon successful completion and submission of your application, you will be routed to your Application Dashboard. As mentioned above, you can return to your dashboard at any time when you have an open application by selecting the Apply Now link. 2. Your dashboard will provide your latest status and the next steps to be completed. This is the best location for you to manage or track your application process. Please note that upon completion, your status will remain as Pending Review through a portion of the summer of 2015 as your application navigates the proper approval channels. We appreciate your patience in this regard. 3. Your dashboard will also allow you to update any questions on your application, as appropriate (for example, you might have grown taller!). You will also be able to update your picture from your dashboard. 4. In the summer of 2016, you (or your parent, if you are a minor) will be required to provide additional information about your required medical and required trainings.
