12 Community Success: Kids can cook at Bells Point. CSRC Jody Ratt of Bells Point Elementry in Lac La Ronge ran a 2 month cooking Program from October to November, partnering with Flora Ratt from Jennie Bird Clinic. Twice a week Jody and Flora wold cook up a storm with kids using ingredients they can find in their own homes. They made stir fry, soup and bannock, Cake from scratch, and even got the kids to experiment with a new food items such as Quiche Jody said that the kids were apprehensive to try quiche they said it looked weird and gross, but soon realized that it was really good!! Jody and Flora were excited to find more recipes to expose kids to new foods. In addition to learning about different foods, the Kids Can Cook program focused on teaching kids basic kitchen safety and hygiene, how long to cook different food items, learning how to read recipes, use measuring cups as well as plan meals. The program was a success and enjoyed by all. Congrats Jody and Flora! 12

13 Community Success (continued) Yoga at Gordon Denny Community School Yoga classes are off to a great start this year! We are offering 2 types of classes: a beginner, and a flow yoga (higher paced). They each happen once a week for one hour and are open to adults and elders, and will run most of the year. There are 2 trained instructors who are offering their time, to lead the classes. Yoga mats and blocks are also available for participants to use from the school in order to make it more accessible to individuals. Both instructors have dimmed the lights, just to make it more relaxing for the class as well and two classes have even been held outside! So far, we have had over 50 participants between both classes, including 2 males, and only 5 of them attend both classes--so all new individuals! Many of the participants have also said they really enjoy it, and two people have even admitted to falling asleep in the class because it was so relaxing! Allyson Richards, CSRC, Gordon Denny Community School 13
