17 Breakout Session III - Leap Into the Future: Evolving Strategies for Learning Wednesday, September 26-2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Passport Ballroom 2 Are we ready for the next generation of learners? In response to ever-changing technology and its impact on our workforce, now is the time to have the conversation on radically rethinking our approaches to learning and development. First, we must start with desired goals and make sure training is even the answer to the question. What result do we want? Then, design and delivery must be rethought. What valueadded interventions will actually work? How can we meet both the organization s goals and our learner s expectations? Amidst this ambiguity and uncertainty, we know one thing for sure. We can t keep doing the same thing we ve done for decades. We must leap into the future and take risks. Now. Are you ready? Session Objectives: Learn to stop being a training order-taker and focus on goals, performance and results. Evaluate old-school techniques and consider more effective ways to design and deliver training. Start small, take risks, add value. Presenter u Lynette Campbell, Vice President Organizational Development & Learning, Farm Credit Services of America Page 17

19 Off Balance On Purpose: The Future is Work-Life Integration Keynote (Work-Life Balance) Wednesday, September 26-3:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Passport Ballroom 2 Achieving a perfect balance between the demands of work and the complexities of life is an intriguing, desirable concept. It s also completely unrealistic. The common way of pursuing balance is entirely inadequate: We sell short our best efforts, burden ourselves with guilt, and exhaust our energy. Instead, we need to make an ongoing effort to infuse life into the workplace, and to let go of the notion of being perfectly balanced. Dan provides a new model for viewing work objectives. Instead of being separate or competing with life, they are a vital and connected component. Successful work-life integration fosters excellence, innovation, and loyalty among employees. Therefore, this session becomes the catalyst for an ongoing and transformational conversation and plan of action. As a result of attending this program, attendees will be able to: Manage their energy and time more effectively. Improve their ability to focus on the task at hand. Understand that Perfect Balance is an unachievable goal. Adopt an Off Balance On Purpose approach as a realistic and empowering alternative. Utilize Lifelines to integrate the aspects of life. Have supportive and appropriate conversations with their peers about life outside the workplace. Presenter u Dan Thurmon, Motivation Works Page 19
