2 acknowledges the generosity of its donors. Major acquisitions have been made possible by The Michael J. Birkner '72 and Robin Wagner Art and Photography Acquisition Fund, which was established in 2013 to enhance the Gettysburg College curriculum, offer curatorial opportunities for students, and provide first-hand access to significant works of art. The College has acquired over 200 fine art works in the past ten years, and this exhibition marks the first occasion to celebrate and view the scope of the collection. Some of the objects have been featured in recent exhibitions, while others, including large-scale color silkscreens by Andy Warhol and a rare print by MacArthur "Genius" Award recipient Carrie Mae Weems, have not yet been exhibited. More information. 2:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. The Cross-Disciplinary Science Institute at Gettysburg College (X-SIG) 5th Annual Poster Presentation Science Center Lobby Students who worked in Gettysburg College science/math department research labs or did research off campus over the summer will present their findings in posters and be on hand to answer questions. Please: The Philosophy of Humor Breidenbaugh 205 When something we say upsets someone else, we will often respond, I was only joking --as if the fact that you were joking means that you are not responsible for the content of the joke. We will look at two questions: (1) Were you joking, that is, what exactly is a joke? and (2) Are there ethical boundaries for jokes? With plenty of examples to tickle the funny bone and jump start the brain, a good time is guaranteed. Additionally, all attendees for this session will receive a free year s tuition for a family member... just joking. Steve Gimbel Professor of Philosophy

There are no facilities, and attire appropriate for the weather and conditions should be worn. Directions to the Observatory are available at Registration (before 6:00 p.m.). 7:30 p.m. The School for Lies by David Ives Kline Theater A hilarious farce of furious tempo and stunning verbal display that runs variations on Molière's The Misanthrope, which inspired the creation of it. From the comic imagination of David Ives comes a timely take on The Misanthrope, one of the greatest masterpieces of French comedy. A gleeful truth-teller, Frank is a French aristocrat who despises his society of liars and doesn t mind telling them so. His well-aimed barbs wreak havoc in a world of pompous suitors and extravagant ladies, until rumors ricochet and alternative facts become reality. Outrageous gags and vicious couplets strike a hilarious balance of class and crass in this classic collision of Molière s biting satire and Ives s modern wit. Original music by Buzz Jones and directed by Christopher Kauffman. Free admission; reservations required.

6 9:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. repercussion CUB Ballroom repercussion has been pleasing audiences around the world for more than a decade. Appearances include MTV s The Real World and Laguna Beach, as well as NBC s America s Got Talent. Sneak preview.
