There is a $35 per person fee to stay overnight. Change of Major Table Student ID Picture If you didn t upload your photo online, get your photo taken today. ID cards can be picked up after START check-out on Day 2. The tour is 45 minutes. 10:15 Finley Residence Hall Lawn Gather by Student s Group Number Group number is on the student s folder label in the upper-right corner. Families, please join your student. 10:30-11:15 LaSells Stewart Center Opening Session* STUDENTS 11:30-12:45 Memorial Union Quad Small Group/Lunch* Students will eat with their START leader and learn tips and resources for success at OSU from a current student s perspective. FAMILIES 11:30-12:30 LaSells Stewart Center Family Session #1 Begin to develop your partnership with OSU. Learn about your student s transition to college.

2 START Day 1: Continued STUDENTS 1:00-1:50 Milam Auditorium Academic Overview* Students will learn about OSU s undergraduate degree programs and learning how to engage both in and out of the classroom. 2:00-2:20 Memorial Union Quad OSU Traditions Join the START Leaders on the MU Quad to learn the fight song and other chants/traditions for OSU Athletics. FAMILIES 12:30-1:15 Arnold Dining Lunch Please wear your nametag during lunch to signify you are part of the START program. 1:30-2:20 Memorial Union Ballroom Family Session #2 Q&A with Oregon State Police, Public Safety, Counseling & Psychological Services, Student Health Services and University Housing & Dining Services. 2:20-3:30 Gather on Memorial Union Quad Housing Tours/Off-Campus Housing Info Students and families will go on a guided tour of the residence hall the student will be living in. For students who have not been placed in a hall yet, please attend one of the halls you listed on your housing application. A presentation for students living off-campus is also given during this time. 3:30-4:45 Gather on Memorial Union Quad Academic College Presentation* START leaders will escort each college s students and families to their presentation. Students are required to attend this presentation in order to receive an advising appointment and registration time for tomorrow. 4 START Day 2 7:00-9:00 Residence Hall Check-Out and Breakfast Finley Hall Lounge Check out by 9 a.m.! Drop your key off at the residence hall front desk. A continental breakfast is served in the Finley Residence Hall 1st floor lounge only for those staying overnight in the residence hall. 8:00-4:30 START Information Table Memorial Union Concourse If you have any questions or need any help through the day, stop by and we will gladly assist you. We will check your luggage here if you need a place to hold it while you re on campus for Day 2. 8:00-9:00 Change of Major Table Memorial Union Main Lounge If you want to change your major prior to your advising appointment, stop by to speak with an academic advisor and fill out a change of major form. Make sure to come before 9 a.m. 8:00-9:00 Language Test Score Interpretation Memorial Union 212 Have questions about your language placement test result, which language course to take first, or are wondering how many classes it would take to complete a language major or minor? FAMILIES 9:45-10:15 Family Session #4 MU Ballroom During this family session, you will be informed about valuable academic resources that are available to your student. 10:15-11:15 Family Session #5 MU Ballroom Learn how OSU is invested in creating a safe and supportive campus community. Staff from the prevention and advocacy team and the Director of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards will give you an overview of the ways we are trying to reduce high-risk drinking, drug use, end sexual violence, and support survivors. Presenters will give you specific ways you can help support your student s health and well-being during their time in college. Families: please feel free to drop into the afternoon presentations listed on the next page while your student is in their advising appointment! 11:00-4:30 START Check-Out & ID Card Pick-Up* START Info Table - Memorial Union Concourse After you have met with your advisor and registered for classes, please stop by the START Info Table on the MU Concourse to check out. You will take a two-minute survey to get your check-out confirmation before getting your OSU ID card. Please be prepared to show a government-issued ID (driver s license, passport, military ID) and your check-out confirmation to pick up your OSU ID card.

You will earn two bachelor s degrees concurrently- one in your chosen field and one in education; providing you with a teaching license that has reciprocity in 45 states in the US and the ability to earn an ESOL endorsement as an undergraduate. 11:30 Global Opportunities: Yes, You Can Study or Intern Abroad! Memorial Union 206 Come learn how to internationalize your OSU education through study abroad, internships abroad, and research abroad! The national award-winning Orange Media Network provides students of all majors the opportunity to learn professional media skills, amplify their voices, and engage with the community through KBVR-TV, KBVR-FM, DAMchic Magazine, Beavers Digest Magazine, Prism Literary Arts Journal, The Barometer, and more. 3:00 Fraternity and Sorority Housing Tour Memorial Union Front Steps See some of the amenities of living in a chapter house near campus.
