On May 15th the West Burlington SCC campus will be hosting over 300 8th grade girls for a career exploration event called Investigate Your Future. Over 25 presenters will be doing hands on activities with the girls. Several of them have requested to have assistants help with these activities by supervising and helping to clean up/set up between sessions. 4 Spring 2018 Music Matters Lori Wilson, Artist in Residence Alexis Anderson is 21 years old and comes from Nauvoo, IL. Alex is graduating this semester from the Nursing Program and hopes to move to California in the Fall. Lyndsay Arrowood is 22 years old and comes from Keokuk. This semester Lyndsay is graduating with her AS and she plans to attend Iowa Wesleyan University to study Music Nick Bernhardt is 19 years old and comes from Fort Madison, IA. Currently Nick is working on his AA at SCC and would like to pursue a career in Secondary Education and Film. Sam Cady is 19 years old and comes from Danville, IA. Currently Sam is pursuing his AA. Autumn Fields is 19 years old and comes from Mediapolis, IA. Currently, Autumn is pursuing her AA and hopes to attend UNI in 2019 to study Music. Christian Davis is 19 years old and comes from Burlington, IA. Currently Christian is pursuing his AA and he hopes to attend UNI to study communications in the future. 4 Cole Hauser is 20 years old and comes from Altoona, IA. This semester Cole is graduating from SCC with his AA and AS. Cole will be attending the University of Iowa next year to study Human physiology and hopes to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy. Olivia Keller is 21 years old and comes from Burlington, IA. Currently Olivia is pursuing her AA and she hopes to go to Western Illinois University to study Music Therapy. Kaitlyn Little is 19 years old and comes from Hamilton, IL. Currently Kaitlyn is pursuing her AA at SCC Keokuk Campus. Joley Seitz is 20 years old and comes from Keokuk, IA. This semester Joley is graduating with her AA. Next fall Joley will attend the University of Northern Iowa to study Vocal Music Performance. Trent Washburn is from Keokuk and is currently getting his AA degree. Evie Williams is 19 years old and comes from Danville, IA. Currently Evie is working on classes for her AA and next fall she plans to attend Morningside College to study English. Director: Lori Wilson adjunct music instructor at SCC and Artist in Residence. Accompanist: Janice Gibson is the owner of Kinder music on the River. Bass Player: Kamron Warden Teaches Music at Aldo Leopold Middle School.

Poetry Corner 96 Vandam Di Dante and SCC s Literature and Film club s last meeting will be held: Wednesday May 2nd! Invitations for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society have been sent via your SCC . Anyone who has completed 12 credit hours at SCC and has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher should have received an invitation. Contact the registrar if you believe you should have been invited and did not receive an invitation. Orientation (information) sessions are scheduled for: March 10:00 am in W. Burlington, Private Dining Room Phi Theta Kappa meetings for the rest of the semester: I am going to carry my bed into New York City tonight complete with dangling sheets and ripped blankets; I am going to push it across three dark highways or coast along under 600,000 faint stars. I want to have it with me so I don t have to beg for too much shelter from my weak and exhausted friends. I want to be as close as possible to my pillow in case a dream or a fantasy should pass by. I want to fall asleep on my own fire escape and wake up dazed and hungry to the sound of garbage grinding in the street below and the smell of coffee cooking in the window above.
