2 Merit Badge College Features Boy Scout Merit Badge College Hot Dog Lunch and Drink Included with Registration. 3 Merit Badge College and Facility Rules No guns, knives, or weapons of any kind permitted on campus. Usage of drugs or alcohol strictly prohibited. Merit Badge instructors and students are reminded to help keep classrooms and facility CLEAN! Boy Scouts should use the Buddy System, groups of 2 or more. Speed limit 10 MPH throughout the entire campus Act according to the Scout Oath and Law Do No Enter Restricted Areas Please park in designated parking areas ONLY Merit Badge College Registration There will be on- site registration for this event and session sizes will be limited. To ensure Scouts are able to participate in their desired session, pre- registration is a MUST! Registration Fee Registration fee for all Scouts is $10 Registration Deadline Registration fee is due by April 2 nd. Late Registration Late Registrations will be accepted up to April 11 th. A Late Registration fee is an additional $5, however, class assignment is first come first served and late entrants and every attempt to assign the scout one of their top 3 choices of badges. Merit Badge Pamphlet Scouts are encouraged to purchase a Merit Badge Pamphlet at the Scout Service Center on Silas Creek Parkway prior to the event. Merit Badge College Schedule Make all checks payable to Old Hickory Council. 8:00 AM Check- in Opens (Ardmore Hall Auditorium) 8:45 AM Opening Ceremony 9:00 AM Merit Badge Sessions Begin 12 Noon Lunch 1:00 PM Merit Badge Sessions Resume 4:00 PM Merit Badge Sessions End 3
4 Merit Badge College Uniform Policy Class A uniforms are to be worn to the event. Class B uniforms can be worn during the sessions. Scouts wearing inappropriate clothing will be asked to change into Class A! Merit Badge College Weather Plan This is a Rain or Shine event. The event will not be cancelled or postponed except in the event of severe weather. LUNCH Lunch is provided to each paid participant. Grilled hot dogs, drink, chip and a cookie. If you have dietary restrictions, please bring your own bag lunch. No youth is allowed to leave campus for any reason without written permission from a parent. Campus Locations and Check- In All classes will be held in Ardmore Hall, Allman Center and Hauser Hall. Parking is in lots F and C. See the enclosed campus map for circled locations. Check in at the Ardmore Hall auditorium upon arrival to campus. 4
5 2015 Forsyth Merit Badge College April 11, 2015 Merit Badge College Participation Details Boy Scout morning sessions will begin at 9:00 AM Afternoon sessions will begin at 1:00 PM Many of the Merit Badges offered have requirements that must be completed before or after the event; in those cases a scout will receive a partial completion for his work. Partials may be completed and approved by the scout s Scoutmaster or Merit Badge instructor after the event. Merit badges are offered on a pre- registration basis only!! Scouts must send in the form to get registered for a badge, or drop off their forms at the office before 5:00 PM on Thursday,April 2. A late registration fee of an additional $5 will be charged to participants who register after April 2. If a Scout registers from a unit, make sure he attends so that classes can be filled accordingly on the day of the event. The Scout needs to let you know if they cannot attend at the last minute so someone else can get an opportunity to take that class. Parental Consent & Hold Harmless Form: This should be completed by the parent of each youth and submitted with their registration Each unit with Scouts participating MUST provide TWO DEEP leadership. UNITS ARE TO CHECK IN AS A GROUP, ONE ADULT TO CHECK IN SCOUTS! All participants should pre- register. Deadline for pre- registration will be April 2. Please pay all fees at the Old Hickory Council office. Pre- registered Scouts are guaranteed a patch, lunch and one of their top three session choices. NO Scout is guaranteed his first choice, but pre- registered Scouts will have priority over late registrants. Every attempt will be made to place a Scout in his first choice! On- Site or late registrations are available the day of the event, but a late fee will be assessed. Only Merit Badge Sessions not filled will be available; a patch will be provided IF available. 9 Parental Consent Parental Informed Consent and Hold-Harmless/Release Agreement 2015 Forsyth Merit Badge College I understand that participation in the Forsyth Advancement College offered through the Old Hickory Council, BSA, on April 11, 2015, involves a certain degree of risk that could result in injury. In consideration of the benefits to be derived and after carefully considering the risk involved, and in view of the fact that the Boy Scouts of America is an organization in which membership is voluntary, and having full confidence that precautions will be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of my (son), I have given (son) my consent to participate in the Forsyth Merit Badge College, and waive all claims I may have against Boy Scouts of America, The Old Hickory Council, activity coordinators, all employees, volunteers, or sponsors associated with the Old Hickory Council. In case of emergency, I understand every effort will be made to contact me.
