1 Dear Applicants, I would like to commend the support and excitement you are showing for LSU by applying to be on the Homecoming Court. I have organized all of the information you will need to know to apply. The Homecoming Committee will verify all information. Eligibility Applications Any student who meets the following criteria may apply for the Homecoming Court: 1. Must have been a full time student at LSU for one regular semester (Fall or Spring). 2. Must have passed twelve hours of credit at LSU. 3. Must have had a 2.0 GPA during the last full-time semester and an overall 2.0 GPA. 4. Must be in good standing with the university. 5. Must not have been a previous member of the Homecoming Court. Any student who meets the eligibility requirements may submit applications for the 2003 LSU Homecoming Court. It is not necessary to be nominated by an organization to compete for Homecoming Court. Applications are due in Room 304 in the LSU Union to the Homecoming Desk no later than Monday, September 15 th at 4:30 PM. Selection Process Rules After the applications are received, the applicants will be assigned points based on their involvement, leadership, and honors both on and off campus. Applicants should include all of their college activities and honors, even if he/she has to add extra sheets. False information will lead to disqualification. From the applicants, the top fifteen men and the top fifteen women will then proceed to the next round of selections. The names of these thirty applicants will be posted on the Homecoming Desk in Room 304 of the LSU Union by 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 16 th. The thirty contestants must attend a thirty minute informational meeting on Wednesday, September 17 th at 8:00 AM in the Union Red River Room. The interview/speech portion of the selection will be on Friday, September 19 th at 5:30 PM to select the top five (Homecoming Court). Applicants must arrive at 5:15 PM. If an applicant has not arrived at this time, he/she forfeits court eligibility. The student body will vote for the King and Queen from October 27 th - October 31 st via PAWS. Voting ends October 31 st at 5:00 PM. The court members receiving the most votes will be named King and Queen. The Homecoming Court will consist of the other eight members. On November 1 st during the half-time portion of the homecoming game, the LSU Court and the King and Queen will be announced. All ten semi-finalists must have their pictures taken by a professional photographer selected by the committee on selection night. All ten semi-finalists must participate in selected events throughout homecoming week. Campaigning is not allowed in any way, shape, or form. If you have any questions, please me at kgonso1@lsu.edu. 2 Directions for Completing: 2003 HOMECOMING COURT APPLICATION This application is used in the first and second rounds of the Homecoming Court selection process. Please follow these directions closely when completing the application. If you have any questions me at If the application is not filled out correctly and completely you could be disqualified from competition. Points are assigned to your application based only on the information you have supplied. You are awarded points based on the number of semesters of membership, leadership positions held, and any committees you have served on in an organization. The number of semesters should include past and current semesters (i.e. - If you are serving as President of a club for both fall and spring semesters this year, only count the fall semester). Therefore, you are encouraged to list everything you have been involved with since you began college. DO NOT BE MODEST. DIRECTIONS: 1) List one organization/activity per line. 2) Do not write in the shaded areas. 3) You may continue onto additional sheets. Please follow the same format. 4) Follow the attached sample closely. 5) Only list each activity once. CAMPUS ORGANIZATIONS: List all involvement in organizations associated with LSU. (If you have transferred from another school, clearly indicate which organizations you were involved in on that campus.) First, list the organization s name and the number of semesters you have been a member. Then list any leadership positions held and any committees you served on within the organization, with the number of semesters for each. Do not list things you have only participated in within the organization. (i.e., You bought a ticket and attended Taste of the Tiger for your sorority, you helped with homecoming pomping, or participated in a service project as part of an organization or class.) Please consider all of the following types of organizations: Social, Service, Honorary, Political, Professional, Military, Athletic, Art/Music/Literary/Communications AWARDS, SCHOLARSHIPS, HONORS: List any awards, scholarships, or honors you have received since starting college. Indicate the number of semesters/number of times you received the award. Please consider the following honors: Dean s List, Outstanding Member, anything published COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND SERVICE: List all involvement in community organizations outside of LSU. List the organization s name, your title or position, and the number of semesters you were involved. This category is for involvement in the community outside of LSU only. Do not include community service through campus organizations. (i.e., food drive through fraternity) WORK/INTERNSHIPS: Please list all your work and internship experience while enrolled in college.
