5 Congratulations and Best Wishes Alpha Nu Chapter For Hosting the 2017 Annual Founders Day From Beta Upsilon and Beta Tau Chapters Cleveland, Ohio All things are possible Luke 18:27 Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. 30 th Founders Day Celebration Good Morning, and Welcome to the 30 th Northern Region Founders Day Celebration. We salute our Founders Dr. Violet T. Lewis and Soror Elizabeth Garner for guiding us on this Gamma Journey. Elizabeth Garner, Founder Violet T. Lewis, Co-Founder - We can be proud as African American women when we look back over the years and celebrate our strength, education, determination and having the will to never give up, for example - Mrs. Michelle Obama. What a role model. The first First Lady of Color. Viola Davis, who stands by her principals in the roles she portrays. Katherine G. Johnson, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughan, whose stories were finally told (Hidden Figures). Porter - Qualls - Dunlap Funeral Home Congratulations and Best Wishes Alpha Nu Chapter - Host 30 th Annual Founders Day Celebration 823 South Yellow Springs St Springfield, OH A Full Service Funeral Home If we follow the example of just these seven women, how much richer would our lives and the lives of those around us be. We must add our names to this roll call. Reach back and give someone a hand. There are plenty of young women, even in our immediate families, who can use a strong outstretched hand. In 1943 our Founders saw a need in their community to educate women, to get them out of typical Black Jobs and to open more pathways to success. Today, we honor their legacy, if not us, who? Our Founder s, like the previously named women, were, and are perfect examples of our theme: The Power of Vision: Empowering Women & Inspiring Leaders. On behalf of the Northern Region Board, I want to thank Alpha Nu, Host Chapter and Alpha Omega, Co- Host Chapter for joining together in celebrating our Founders and Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. Peace and Harmony, Evelyn R. Berrien Evelyn R. Berrien Northern Regional Director Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc.

We pay tribute to Sorors Elizabeth Garner & Dr. Violet T. As needs grew, operations moved from the church facility into other venues in the community. Bonita Mills became acquainted with serving the less fortunate by her parents, Edwin and Dorothea Mills, who through the Dorcas Society ran a food pantry out of their little yellow house on Yellow Springs Street in Springfield, Ohio. The leadership of the organization has gone through many hands, presently Bonita Mills is the local director of Family Needs, Inc. soup kitchen. Her work experience goes back to Hart s Family Store, where she began as an entry level employee and worked her way up to managing the store. After the business closed, she took on operations within her home in which she manufactured silk screen prints and t-shirt designs. As of now Mrs. Mills rations her time between working in the Springfield City School s after school latch-key program and directing the Family Needs, Inc. Soup Kitchen. She is married to husband James Keith Mills. They have two children, James Keith Mills, Jr. of New Mexico and Marsha Ellen Mills of Washington, D. C..
