The mission of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Virginia Tech is to support and engage members of the fraternity and sorority community by promoting lifelong learning, empowering personal growth, inspiring intellectual development, cultivating leadership, and encouraging philanthropy and service, all through the shared values of brotherhood and sisterhood. During the Spring 2015 semester, the fraternity and sorority community at Virginia Tech encompassed approximately 4,706 students (approximately 20% of the undergraduate student population) through 53 chapters which are organized into four governing councils. During the Spring 2015 semester, the all fraternity and sorority GPA (3.211) was higher than the all undergraduate GPA (3.168). In addition, the top performing chapters by council affiliation for the Spring 2015 semester are as follows: Interfraternity Council Beta Theta Pi Fraternity Alpha Phi Chapter Term GPA Multicultural Greek Council Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. Kappa Chapter Term GPA National Pan-Hellenic Council Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
