2 TECH CORPS Vision: A technologically literate society in which all K-12 students have equal access to the technology skills, programs and resources that will enrich their education and allow them to successfully compete in the global workforce. Mission: The mission of TECH CORPS is three-fold and is achieved through: PROGRAMS Bringing additional technology resources to K-12 students and teachers through national, state and local programs such as Computing Career Corps, E 4 Tech, High School Coding Camp, Student Code Corps, Student TECH CORPS, Student WEB CORPS, Techie Camp, and Techie Club. PEOPLE Recruiting and supporting tech-savvy volunteers from the community to advise and assist schools and youth-serving nonprofit organizations in the integration of new technologies. PARTNERS Increasing educational technology resources through partnerships with education, business, government and community. 3 Letter from the Director As I reflect on 2016, there is so much to celebrate. Together, with our partners, we provided access to high-quality computer science programs to more than 1,600 students. We expanded our reach into three new states, and we identified a strategy for awarding college credit to students in our Student WEB CORPS program. In partnership with the Teaching & Learning Collaborative, we developed an innovative curriculum and professional development model that empowers elementary school teachers to bring computer science into their classrooms in a way that transforms learning. I am truly grateful to our dedicated volunteers, our passionate and energetic staff, our inspiring Board, and to our donors both large and small, new and longstanding. This effort aligned with our motto of Advancing careers from the classroom to the Boardroom. It was simply the right thing to do. As IT professionals that have achieved some level of success we felt it was absolutely critical that we partner with TECH CORPS and implement a local Techie Camp, in order to continue the work of opening doors of opportunity for our youth. The partnership was critical to the overarching mission of Uplift, and we were proud to partner with them. It was a fulfilling and enriching experience. Kevin Simmonds BDPA Atlanta
