LYNN S MUSIC NOTES Happy Liturgical New Year! Advent begins the new liturgical year. The lectionary is divided into 3 cycles (A, B and C) for the weekend readings and 2 (A and B) for the weekday readings. This Advent we will be using Cycle B. Those readings in the Lectionary are from the BIBLE! Some Catholics feel like they don t know the Bible very well and aren t adept at quoting chapter and verse. For a Catholic, the Bible/Scripture is not so much a book to be studied as a book to worship with. The Catholic Mass is about 30% Scripture versus an Evangelical church is about 3% of the service. How can that be? At Mass, we hear readings from the Old and New Testaments, sing the Psalm, hear a Gospel reading and the Eucharistic prayers are also based on Scripture. So a churchgoing Catholic does know and use Scripture! It s just that a Catholic uses it primarily for meditation and worship, not for personal information and instruction. OUR GIFT TO GOD November 26, 2017 Adult Offering 16, Anonymous 1, School Offering Total 18, Thank you for your generosity! BANNS OF MATRIMONY K OF C BLOOD DRIVE A Blood Drive will be held at the K of C Hall located at 1011 Elida Ave. on Wednesday, December 6 th from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please call RED-CROSS or go to redcrossblood.org, sponsor code kofcdel to schedule your donation appointment. EMBRACE THE ADVENT SEASON WITH VIDEO'S FROM FORMED It s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or, at least that s the assumption based on that familiar holiday song. But what does that look like at your house? Most of us anticipate the great sales at the mall on the day after Thanksgiving, string lights on the outside of our house, and decorate the inside of our homes. But how exactly are we preparing our hearts for the greatest gift we ve ever been given? Through an exploration of the mystery of the Incarnation, the Virgin Birth, and the events surrounding the arrival of Jesus, this Advent study offers an opportunity to experience the joy of the true meaning of Christmas. There are 4 video sessions, The Advent Series - One for each week of Advent! DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE SANCTIFICATION OF PRIESTS Monday, December 4, 2017 Kindly remember in prayer all our Priests serving in the Diocese of Toledo, as they gather on Monday, December 4 for the annual Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests, at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Through our prayers, may the Lord grant them many blessings. II Jeremy Pruett and Mallory Gross
