1 Sunday, December 3, 2017 First Sunday of Advent Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me a wonder at the wisdom and power of Your Father and ours. Receive my prayer as part of my service of the Lord who enlists me in God's own work for justice. Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me a hunger for peace: peace in the world, peace in my home, peace in myself. Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me a joy responsive to the Father's joy. I seek His will so I can serve with gladness, singing and love. Come, long-expected Jesus. Excite in me the joy and love and peace it is right to bring to the manger of my Lord. Raise in me, too, sober reverence for the God who acted there, hearty gratitude for the life begun there, and spirited resolution to serve the Father and Son. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Whose advent I hail. Amen.

3 Name That Garden Contest Final Winners Thank you for the many suggestions for the name of the new Sheil Garden. After serious deliberation and discernment, a filibuster by Tim Higgins, and fisticuffs, the Sheil staff solemnly has declared the following to be the winners of the Name that Garden Contest: Muffie Dondlinger - Christine Grinslade Judy McEvoy - Cindy Ulrich How did THEY win, you ask? Because they donated a LOT of money; you should have too. Seriously, the staff settled on those who included the title Christ the Teacher or the word Peace in their entry. Heretofore the lovely plot will be known as The Christ the Teacher Peace Garden. We will publish all of the entries in next week's news letter. Congratulations to our winners. Kevin Rides for Students Christmas Break Each year, the Sheil community supports our students by offering rides to the airports for Christmas break. We are looking for associates to drive to O Hare and Midway prior to break, approximately December 4th through Dec 10th. This is a great way to make a connection with a student and help him/her get to the airport safely and on time. 5 Sheil Welcomes Fr. Chuck Dahm Monday, Decmber 4 The Rev. Father Chuck Dahm, of St. Pius V Church in Pilsen is a leader in the Chicago Archdiocese s effort to address domestic violence. His message is extremely powerful. Monday evening December 4 at 7:00 p.m. he will lead a discussion on this serious issue that is prevalent in our society today. Fr. Dahm will also ad- The Perfect Christmas Gift or Stocking Stuffer Purchase a Mardi Gras Golden Ticket for a special friend or loved one for Christmas. The winner receives a week-long vacation (subject to availability) in a luxury condominium anywhere in the United States. Trip includes 2 round-trip airfares. Only 100 tickets will be sold. Winner will be announced during the live auction at SHEIL MARDI-GRAS, Saturday, February 10, Winner need not to be present to win. Flowers for Christmas Altar Poinsettia offerings to decorate our Christmas Altar will be accepted online December 3rd through Give Central at and following all Masses December 10th & 17th.
