2 General Information REGISTRATION INFORMATION Spring/Summer Registration Dates Resident Only: Monday, March 13, 2017 beginning at 8 a.m. Non-Residents: Monday, March 20, 2017 beginning at 8 a.m. Please Note: All non-residents registering during resident time period will be automatically dropped and will have to re-register on appropriate dates. Register on-line at REFUND POLICY: Refunds and transfers MUST be requested FIVE business days prior to the beginning of the class in order to receive a refund or transfer. (Exception: There are no refunds for Fun in the Sun and Art in the Park, however if spots are available a participant may transfer to another day.) There will be a 20% administrative charge for all cancellations. The $3.00 online service fee is non-refundable. If a class is cancelled by Greenwood Village, a full refund will be made to the participant. Transfers are free if spots are available; participants may substitute another family member with an account in their spot. Transfers of friends or neighbors are NOT allowed. DROP OFF AND PICK-UP POLICY For all youth art and recreation programs participants MUST be signed in and out of the program by a person who is 13 years or older, unless arrangements have been made with the staff supervisor prior to the program.

4 Youth Activities SPRING BREAK SPORTS CAMP Day and Dates: Monday through Thursday March 27 through March 30 Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Location: Silo Park 9300 East Orchard Road Ages: 6 through 12 years old Fee: $1 per day per participant Pay at the park each day Limit: 40 participants per day DROP-IN PROGRAM Not going away for Spring Break? Come out and play! Join us at Silo Park for miscellaneous games such as, flag football, dodge ball, ultimate Frisbee and various other recess games. No equipment is necessary. So grab a friend and come on over! Healthy snacks and drinks will be provided. A mandatory sign in sheet must be completed by parents daily for each participant, in case of an emergency. 5 SPRING BREAK ART CAMP Don t worry about going away for spring break, register for our spring art camp taking place at the Curtis Center. You will create unique works of art with local artists Gerri Calpin and Teresa Castaneda. Join us for one day or the entire week! 6 Youth Activities PEE WEE ART Pee Wee Art is a fun hands-on art program that introduces preschoolers to the arts and allows for parent s to assist with their child s creative process. At each program your little artist will be introduced to a new art medium (drawing, painting, sculpture and more) that they will use to create their own work of art. All equipment will be provided by the staff.

7 PEE WEE SOCCER Experience the game of soccer in a fun, relaxed environment with your friends. Dribbling, passing, shooting and playing games will be introduced to the participants. Parents are welcome to stay and watch. 8 Youth Activities CREATIVITY GROWS HERE This fun and engaging studio class promotes creativity and is tailored for children of all artistic levels and ability. Participants will create works of art using a variety of mediums, drawing, painting, collage and mixed media. Kids will explore materials and methods in ways that inspire new ideas and help to develop an unique style. Day and Dates: Tuesdays, April 4 through April 25 Time: 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Instructor: Janice Sugg Location: Curtis Arts & Humanities Center 2349 East Orchard Road, Greenwood Village, CO Ages: 6 to 12 years old Fee: $50 All supplies included Limit: 15 participants TENTACLE SCULPTURES Explore sculpture! Students will create a large sculpture from design to construction and finish with painting. We will use tools, wire, paper mache and paint. Students learn various techniques from wire shaping to collage and textual layering. Each piece will have a story and we will experiment on methods of expressing that in the final work of art! Come use your imagination and create a life size sculpture! 9 LEARN TO DRAW MANGA Learn how to draw and color with oil pastels. From Dragon Ball to Full Metal Alchemist, Manga (Japanese comics and cartoons) is one of the most popular art forms in the world. In this 8-week workshop, you ll learn about the history of Manga, how it differs from American comics, and have the chance to bring your very own Manga comics to life. Sessions will include hands-on instruction on how to create Manga characters, settings, stories, and so much more! Day and Dates: Fridays, April 7 through May 26 Time: 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Presented by: Pop Culture Classroom delivers innovative pop culture-based resources to educators, administrators, parents, and community members to create educational engagement with students. 11 ART IN THE PARK Make the journey to Silo Park this summer to create unique hands-on art projects! Each Art in the Park program introduces participants to a different art medium and technique that will be used in designing and constructing a unique work of art. For all activities please wear sneakers and clothes that can get dirty. Join us for one day or several to create! 12 Youth Activities SKATE CAMP Want to learn how to skateboard at Westland s beginner park? Join this camp and learn the skills & tricks you need to ride in the park. Also learn skate park etiquette and other tricks to take your skills to the next level. This camp will be taught by professional skate board instructors. Participants need to bring their own skateboard, helmet, wrist guards and knee pads. Day: Mondays, May, 1 through 22 Time: 4:15 5:00 p.m. Ages: 7 10 years old Fee: $30 per participant Limit: 12 participants Location: Westlands Park at the basketball courts 5701 South Quebec St, Greenwood Village, CO JUNIOR GOLF Program includes 6 weeks of golf lessons, a round of golf, and lunch each week. Junior golfers must have their own golf bag, clubs and balls. PRIOR ROUNDS OF GOLF EXPERIENCE A MUST. Meet at the putting green each week. Parents may pick their child up in the Avalanche Grill at 11:30 a.m. or staff will bring them out front when program is over. 13 Adult Activities CASUAL WATERCOLOR Casual Watercolor is an ongoing series of classes with a simplified approach to this gorgeous medium. Day and Time: Mondays, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Instructor: Renee Reese Age: 16 and older Limit: 12 students per workshop PAINTING COLORADO Learn to watercolor the trees, mountains, and landscapes that make our state so gorgeous! Use simple techniques to turn what we see in photographs into loose fun watercolor paintings. We ll be using a limited color palette for unlimited color mixing. 14 Adult Activities FIGURE DRAWING This class introduces students to drawing the human figure using the foundations of drawing. Much of the class time will focus on the process of drawing and students will finish the session with a longer study for presentation. A clothed model will be used. Artist Level: This class is for beginner to advanced artists. Through demonstrations, individual instruction and hands-on exercises, students will gain confidence in painting landscapes with acrylics. Artist Level: This class is for all levels of painters. 15 MORE SECRETS TO GLOWING COLORS If you love rich radiant color in your artwork, you ll enjoy learning to create bright, loose colorful oil paintings by working with opaque paint colors layered over a colorful transparent background. Artist Level: This class is for oil painters with some painting and drawing experience. Through demonstrations, one-on-one instruction and hands-on exercises students will gain confidence in their craft by drawing still life, figures, nature, interiors and cityscapes using charcoal and graphite. 16 Adult Activities WATERCOLOR This thorough exploration of watercolor painting offers instruction and opportunities for practice in basic wet and dry techniques, washes, blends and use of transparency Artist Level: This class is for all artistic levels Beginning students will concentrate on how to paint with watercolor and will learn how to apply the fundamentals of art and painting to their own watercolor paintings. Experienced students will concentrate on composition, technical skills, paint consistency and color development in their own watercolor paintings. Those students wanting to explore and improve their gouache skills are welcome. 17 One-day workshops COFFEE AND CANVAS Get together once a month on Saturday mornings with friends to enjoy coffee and create art! Every workshop features a fresh painting design. All supplies are included, just bring your inner artist. Day and Time: Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. April 8 Anticipating Spring With the change of season, please join us to paint a fresh and fun spring garden scene. Students have requested a painting featuring daffodils, crocuses and spring green grasses. This one will be a breath of fresh air. Come join us! May 13 Teacups Galore Tea cups are the subject of this fun and whimsical canvas. We ll be using bright and lively acrylic colors to paint a small collection of tea cups and saucers. This canvas would make a treasured gift for a Mother or special friend. And, yes, we re serving tea at this workshop. 18 one-day workshops One-day workshops WHAT IS POLYMER CLAY AND CAN I HAVE FUN WITH IT? This one hour demonstration will focus on how to use and make works of art using polymer clay. Artist Gerri Calpin will demonstrate basic technique and the equipment used in working with polymer clay. There will be plenty of samples for participants to view and time for questions. Day and Date: Thursday, March 23 Time: 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Presented By: Gerri Calpin Age: Open to all ages FREE Please reserve your spot by registering on-line at POLYMER CLAY INTRODUCTION This hands-on workshop will introduce artists of all artistic levels to the basics of working with polymer clay. Students will work with one color of clay and design a large button using tools and stamps. Throughout the process artist Gerri Calpin will answer questions, show bench work setup, storage and finishing procedures. All students will get to bake their buttons in an oven and show off their polymer clay creations. 19 One-day workshops MIXED MEDIA BY PÉBÉO MAKE & TAKE POUR Begin or develop your Mixed Media by Pébéo painting skills. Through demonstrations, individual instruction and hands-on exercises, students will learn the basics and gain confidence in working with Mixed Media by Pébéo liquid oil paints. You will have an opportunity to create a sample sheet and an artwork of your own design. Artist Level: This class is for all levels of artists and non-artists. Day and Date: Tuesdays, April 11 Time: 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Instructor: Candace French Ages: 16 and older Fee: $80 10% senior discount for ages 65 and older Limit: 15 students AN INTRODUCTION TO CYANOTYPE Cyanotype is a fascinating and easy hands-on introduction to learning how to make an image using alternative photography (early photo processes). Join photographer Anne van Leeuwen to learn how to make cyanotypes. Participants will be using prepared cyanotype emulsion to coat paper, then expose to UV light to produce exciting blue images. Artist Level: This class is for all levels of artists and non-artists. 21 ADULT KICK BALL LEAGUE Everyone likes kickball! Get some exercise while reliving your playground glory days in a friendly game of kickball. Teams are coed and must have a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 11 players on the field with unlimited line up. Teams may play a maximum of 6 men on the field. 23 community events COMMUNITY EVENTS PETER RABBIT S MAGNIFICENT EGG HUNT Day and Time: Thursday, April 13, 4:30 5:30 p.m. Location: Westlands Park Age: 0 8 years old Egg hunt starts at 4:45 p.m. with an egg decorating contest from 4:30 5:30 p.m. All supplies provided. Bring your own basket to collect eggs. A special event for the residents of Greenwood Village FISHING DERBY AND RUBBER DUCK CONTEST Day and Time: Saturday, April 29, 7:00 9:30 a.m. Location: Tommy Davis Park Come enjoy trout fishing, pancakes and a rubber duck contest. Fishing begins at 7 a.m., followed by a pancake breakfast at 8:00 a.m. Rubber ducks will be handed out to children and released down the spillway at 8:30 a.m. Pancake breakfast tickets will be available at City Hall from April 3 April 28. Pancake breakfast is limited to the first 300 residents. A special event for the residents of Greenwood Village CSU EXTENSION Arapahoe County Colorado Master Gardeners sm Volunteers Join us at Silo Park between May and September from 9:00 10:00 a.m. On Tuesdays. We will be available to answer your garden questions while we till the soil and plant at Silo Gardens. Master Gardeners will also be available at the Garden in a Box event at City Hall on May 13 from 9 Noon.
