It s the Experience of a Lifetime, < NAME!>
Here, time flies but you won t want it to. The best four years of your life will be hard work and a lot of fun. Every taste is accounted for in the new Panther Dining Hall, an all-you-care-to-eat facility featuring international cuisine of the day, pizza buffet, made-to-order pasta, home-style side-dish and carving station, short-order grill, and sandwich, salad, dessert and beverage bars. Plus the food is great! Our award-winning chefs make sure of that. The Campus Activities Board organizes fun events ranging from comedy shows to luaus that give students a chance to make friends and have a lot of fun. I joined a fraternity my freshman year and that has been a blast too. John Adetoyese-Olagunju Aeronautical Science, Class of 2012 Lagos, Nigeria
Expressing yourself is easy when your room has room. In either the spacious 4-bedroom suites of Columbia Village or one of the large, traditional-style rooms of Roberts Hall, first-year students are given space to spread out. Necessities like fridges, Internet access and cable TV are covered so you can concentrate on designing your ultimate home away from home. Green Escape One of the most unique features of campus is our Botanical Garden, a subtropical getaway you can walk through on your way to class. Musically motivated? Whether you sing or play an instrument, there s a performance ensemble for you. Our music program offers choirs, wind and string ensembles, big band and improvised jazz groups and Latin percussion. Student clubs include Players in Harmony (glee club) and the Pep Band and Pep Band Drum Line. With more than 100 student clubs and organizations to get involved with not to mention the countless events and activities these groups bring to campus Florida Tech is always bustling. Here are the options you said you wanted to learn more about as well as a few we thought you might be interested in. Custom Activity #1 photo If your idea of extracurricular activity is gaining work experience, earning some bucks and polishing your résumé, you ve come to the right place. Florida Tech s Office of Career Management Services can connect Custom Activity #1 Text you with internship and cooperative education opportunities in your field with a dynamic company or organization that meets your educational and professional goals. Making a difference through community service is a big part of life at Florida Tech. Through campus chapters of Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Best Buddies, Alpha Phi Omega (the national co-ed service fraternity) and other civic engagement activities too numerous to list, students lead by giving back. Students who exhibit extraordinary academic excellence will likely have the opportunity to become a member of multiple honor Custom societies Activity #2 Text at Florida Tech. Exemplary first-year students may be invited into Phi Eta Sigma. For qualified upperclassmen, there are a number of Custom Activity #2 Photo major-specific honor societies as well as Florida Tech s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation s oldest and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines. HvZ is a game of moderated tag played at colleges all over the world. Florida Tech is one of them. You in?
Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation Panther Aquatic Center Intramural and club sports give everyone the chance to play. There s an intramural counterpart to nearly every varsity sport, as well as tournaments in badminton, ultimate Frisbee and dodge ball. At the club level, FIT offers an ice hockey team, dance/cheer team, surf team (ranked #1 in Florida) and more! The Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation offers many options for strength training and cardiovascular conditioning, as well as group aerobics, dance and Yoga classes. Right outside, the brand new Panther Aquatic Center features a competition pool and recreation pool, both with geothermal heating and cooling systems. Boardroom Boardwalk Board Culture If you don t skate or surf, chances are you ll meet someone who does and it may very well be one of your professors.
Florida Tech athletics are a source of both spirit and pride among the campus community. Made up of talented students who love the challenge of balancing rigorous work with fierce play, our 21 intercollegiate varsity sports teams are not only competitive they re seriously fun to watch. l Women s Soccer Team (2011 Region Champions and National Semifinalists) l Student Athletic Advisory Committee l Phi Kappa Phi Junior Honor Society Division II Men s Teams Baseball Basketball Cross Country Women s Teams Basketball Cross Country Golf Florida Tech Football is Here!! We make our gridiron debut in the Gulf South Conference in Fall Will you be a part of it? f Tri Beta Biological Honor Society f Relay for Life Committee Member and Team Leader j Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Golf Lacrosse Rowing Rowing Softball Swimming & Diving j Environmental Technician at the Barrier Island Center in Melbourne Beach Soccer Tennis Swimming & Diving Track & Field Tennis Volleyball Track & Field Each year, I find that my experiences enable me to grow, learn and discover more about myself. As demanding as this year was, it was undoubtedly one that I will remember. Brittany Rainbow Conservation Biology and Ecology, Class of 2012 Melbourne, Fla. Making the Grade Rigorous academics and rigorous competition are no match for our studentathletes, who score an average cumulative GPA of around 3.0.
HERE, everything is within easy reach. Sunshine isn t the only perk to life in the Sunshine State. Your very own paradise is a quick drive from campus, so you don t need a reason to take a vacation whenever you want. After all, nothing beats relaxing on the beach following a day of rigorous study. Read a book. Build a sandcastle. Swim. Fish. Surf. Sail. And please, don t forget your sunscreen. There s always something to do in or around Melbourne. A short drive will take you to Andretti Thrill Park or historic downtown Melbourne, home to an eclectic mix of independent cafés, clubs and shops. Venture a bit further to hit the mall, movie theater, a variety of restaurants and the popular LevelZ nightclub.
A Foodie s Paradise Melbourne s restaurants are delicious and diverse. There s Cuban, Irish, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Jamaican, Indian, Mediterranean and more all close to campus. Space Coast Attractions Make memories at the wild Brevard Zoo with the Treetop Trek, the world-famous Cocoa Beach Pier or the amazing Kennedy Space Center all between 30 minutes and an hour away. Day Trips Daytona Speedway. Disney. Universal Studios. Sea World. Legoland. Busch Gardens. Miami Beach. Key West. Freshmen can bring cars, so where do you want to go? Brevard Zoo photos The reality is, it s a small school in a small town. The amazing thing is that all the places that seem so normal can make for some great memories. It s who is there with you that makes all the difference. I never thought I would get to meet this many people and grow to care about them so much. But I have. And that s Florida Tech. Anushka Boyd Communication, Class of 2012 Palm Bay, Fla.
