3 153 Total Strategies
4 Pasco County Office of Tourism Development (OTD) Establish a program of strategies and incentives to preserve, enhance, and expand the tourism industry. We have added the Florida Circumnavigation/Blue ways Trail and kayak and boat launch sites to the FWC Fishing Map. The OTD supports the placement of blue ways camping platforms in all of our coastal parks. OTD funds activities and events in the Harbors District such as Chasco Fiesta, Paddleplaozza and Pasco Ecofest which are regional draws to the area and have produced a record of overnight room stays and economic impact for the area. The OTD development also co-funded the FWC Fishing and Boats Guide for Pasco and Hernando County.
5 Pasco County Stormwater Department o Develop an effective public education program to inform residents about the importance of drainage easements, self-maintenance of existing stormwater systems and sustainable stormwater practices to reduce/prevent flooding. On-going community educational program for stormwater management and practices to include literature brochures, pamphlets and videos viewable on the Pasco County website, seminars, and technical Horizontal Round Table meetings with the local private engineering consultants for exchange of ideas and recommendations. Events and/or Presentation 04/25/13 Earth Day Environmental Expo 03/12/14 Zephyrhills Rotary Club 06/08/13 The Landings of St. Andrew Fair * 04/26/14 Earth Day Crews Lake Park 02/06/14 Pasco County Citizens Academy, NPR * 07/08/14 Cypress Creek South Lake 02/24/14 Anclote High School Fair * 08/05/14 Regency Park Library *
6 Pasco County District School Board o Work with schools and local farmers to promote and implement Florida "Farm to School" Program which incorporates locally grown produce into school meals. The District School Board is participating in Farm to School programs throughout Florida, and currently utilize Kumquats from Pasco County. Additional locally grown produce will be added as it as available and cost effective. Currently participating in talks with Pasco County to institute a Food Policy Committee or Community Garden Program. 7 Pasco County Sheriff s Office o Coordinate with the Sheriff s Office and neighborhoods to enhance and expand Neighborhood Crime Watches and the Security Patrol Programs. The Pasco Sheriff's Office has nearly doubled the average number of crime prevention public speaking engagements in a typical month utilizing crime prevention corporals and reserves. A meeting was held in September 2013 with leaders of the County s remaining security patrols. Several neighborhood watch start-up meetings were attended by Community Relations and patrol staff, and district commanders attended numerous civic and community association meetings.
