Instructors Rick DeFelice and Gary Hacker. Contract: #62250 $40 1/26/12 1:00 pm Avoiding Racial Profiling Through Bias Awareness ADJU hours Interpersonal Skills #62252 We will discuss the racial profiling issues for Missouri officers and how to avoid complaints through bias awareness. This course meets the required 3 hours of racial profiling for the reporting period. Contract: #62253 $30 1/27/12 8:00 am Surviving Off-Duty Encounters ADJU hour Legal Studies & 3 hours Technical Studies #62256 Instructor Gary Hacker addresses legal, tactical and practical concerns for surviving an off-duty encounter. Contract: #62258 $40 1/27/12 1:00 pm Self-Defense for Female Officers ADJU 6188 PSI 140 #62260 This training will assist female officers to improve selfdefense and control tactics. Instructor Rusty Sullivan will impart tried and proven physical techniques based on Krav-Maga, an Israeli self-defense system. Contract: #62261 $40

2 1/31/12 8:00 am Weapon Retention and Disarming ADJU 6022 #62342 This is a refresher in weapon retention and disarming techniques. Academy Staff Instructor Contract: #62344 $40 1/31/12 1:00 pm FATS/Firearms Survival ADJU 6000 #62346 This training imparts tactics and techniques to winning a gunfight. Officers will participate in video scenarios. This course meets the Missouri Post required hours for firearms training. Contract: #62348 $40 February Block Training 2/23/12 8:00 am Human Trafficking ADJU hours Interpersonal Skills #62351 This training discusses current issues regarding criminal human trafficking & how police officers can identify it. Instructor is Ken Bergman. Contract: #62352 $40 2/23/12 1:00 pm Shoot, Move and Communicate ADJU 6189 #62358 A 4 hour block of training which teaches officers to shoot, move and communicate with assisting officers. Academy Firearms Instructors will lead this course. Contract: #62359 $40 2/24/12 8:00 am Prevention and Response to Suicide Bombings ADJU hours Technical Skills #62354 This training, approved by Department of Homeland Security, identifies the nine phases of a suicide bombing, and the indications and warnings to a suicide bombing. Gary Hacker, Assistant Chief of Training Contract: #62355 $40 2/24/12 1:00 pm Warrior Mindset Analysis and the Mental Toughness ADJU 6191 Psychological Skills Profile #62360 This training analyzes many of the findings of the book Warrior Mindset. Officers will have the opportunity to take the mental toughness psychological skills profile. Taught by Academy Staff Instructor. Contract: #62361 $40

3 March Block Training 3/22/12 8:00 am Legal Updates Regarding Use of Force ADJU hours Legal Studies #62364 This class will address legal and liability issues regarding use of force. This course, instructed by Gary Hacker, can help officers minimize excessive force complaints and personal liability. Contract: #62365 $40 3/22/12 1:00 pm Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted ADJU 6033 #62367 We will discuss the FBI s LEOKA report and reasons why police officers are assaulted and killed in the Line of Duty. Academy Instructor Gary Hacker Contract: #62368 $40 3/23/12 8:00 am Kinesic Interview and Interrogation ADJU hours Interpersonal Studies #62369 Veteran Detective Mike Mauer will discuss ways to increase interviewing skills by utilizing basic kinesic skills such as bridging phrases, stalling maneuvers, recognizing deceptive yes or no responses... and much more. Contract: #62370 $40 3/23/ The Leadership Role of a Field Training Officer ADJU 6192 PSI hours Interpersonal, 1 hour Legal Studies #62371 This 7 hour course addresses how the Field Training Officer takes on the role of leader and supervisor. The course instructor is retired KCPD officer Larry McCrea. Contract: #62372 $70 3/26, 27, 28, 29, Instructor Development ADJU hr Technical, 4 hr Skill Development & 10 hrs Interpersonal #62373 This is a 40 hour class which is designed to impart police teaching skills to any officer or police supervisor. Missouri POST requires officers to have completed a CERTIFIED Instructor Development course if they are teaching In-Service training. Gary Hacker is Lead Instructor. The cost for this course is $300 per officer and includes police instructor s manual and INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE. (This is a specialized course and not covered under contract.)

4 April Block Training 4/9, 10, 11, 12, Kaminsky s Field Training Officers Program ADJU 6020 PSI hours Technical, 6 hours Interpersonal, 4 hours Legal #62375 This 40-hour training program certifies police officers to become Field Training Officers. Kaminsky & Associates has been the nation s leader in FTO training since the 1970 s. $400 per officer (This is a specialized course and not covered under contract.) 4/11/12 8 am 2 pm Taser Certification and Recertification ADJU hours Technical Studies #62376 This training is for certification and recertification in the use of Tasers. Academy Staff Instructor Contract: #62378 $60 4/12/12 8:00 am Basic Emergency Vehicle Operation ADJU 6193 #62380 This is 4 hours of training in basic emergency vehicle operation. CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO 15 OFFICERS MUST REGISTER TO RESERVE THEIR SPOT Contract: #62381 $40 4/24, 25, 26 8 am 5 pm First Line Supervision and Leadership ADJU hours Legal Studies, 12 hours Interpersonal & 6 hours Technical #62382 This training is designed to assist new police supervisors and commanders in managing officers. This course discusses legal, training and human resource issues and more. This is for the new supervisor or officers about to be promoted. Day three is spent on interacting with Gen X, Y and the Millennial Generation.
