1 PRESS RELEASE Christopher Protsman Chief of Police Released: February 5, 2018 POLICE BLOTTER Monday, January 29, Crews were sent to the Kroger on Stroop on a theft in progress. Upon their arrival they witnessed Jerrod L. Shelton, w/m 36, was contacted as he was leaving. Shelton was charged with trespassing (trespassed on 2/10/17), possession of drug abuse instruments, drug possession warrants through MCSO, and an assault warrant through Xenia PD Crews were sent to the intersection of Wilmington and Stroop on a Sig 11. Upon their arrival they found a white Ford Fusion had struck the back end of a private salt truck. The bed of the truck intruded into the cab of the car causing facial injuries (non-life threatening) to the front passenger. The driver of the Fusion, Gary L. Spoonemore w/m 43, was found to be intoxicated and charged with OVI. Spoonemore submitted to a blood sample being drawn at the hospital Officers arrested Jacalyn M. Vedder (W/F/22) after she assaulted her livein girlfriend in the 3000 block of Mirimar. She was charged with domestic violence (assault) and processed at the Kettering Jail, before being transported to the MCSO Jail for housing An officer met with Riverside PD on the warrant service of Bradley C. Houseman (W/M/28). The Kettering Municipal Court issued the warrant for Houseman s failure to comply on a drug paraphernalia charge.

2 Officers took custody of Houseman and transported him to the Kettering Jail on the confirmed warrant Officers responded to the 5400 block of North Kettering Square on a suspicious person outside by a tree. The subject, Ryan M. Diltz (W/M/24) appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic and had no idea how he got there. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by medics for frost bite on his feet. Diltz had a confirmed felony warrant for his failure to register as a sex offender. An officer remained at MVH with the prisoner until arrangements could be made with MCSO Tuesday, January 30, Officers left roll call early to assist midnight crews, with a domestic violence call at 214 E. Rahn. Upon their arrival, they found that Christopher S. Crousser, (W/M/39), had assaulted his wife. Crousser was arrested and charged with domestic violence and transported to the Kettering PD Jail An officer was dispatched to Frickers on Woodman to meet with a Huber Hts. Officer who had detained Derek W. Whitaker, (W/M/37), on a Kettering Municipal Courts warrant. Whitaker was transported to the Kettering PD Jail without incident Officers were sent to 4428 Parklawn on an overdose. As a result of the investigation officers charged Shawn D. Perkins, w/m 43, with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Perkins admitted to using heroin and/or fentanyl An officer stopped a vehicle on Dixie at the north city limits for equipment violations. During the traffic stop, two of the passengers were found to have warrants and a small amount of marijuana was located Robert T. Stargell, b/m 23, was arrested on two warrants through OSP. - Quaymar T. Hill, b/m 20, was arrested on a warrant through MCSO - Sheila T. Minnfield was cited for possession of marijuana 1815 An officer was sent to 2625 Wehrly Ave on a violation of a protection order. As a result of his investigation he determined that Bruce A.

3 Koehler, w/m 50, had called the victim three times. Koehler was located in Washington Twp and arrested on signed charges Officers responded to 2932 Oakland Ave for a family problem. Upon investigation Andrew J. Huckeby (W/M/29) was arrested for domestic violence (felony due to prior DV) and transported to the Kettering Jail An officer observed a male jaywalking on Wilmington Pk. Upon contact it was found he had an active warrant. Upon confirmation Robert J. Gainor (W/M/53) was arrested for the Butler County SO warrant for Criminal Damaging, and transported to KPD jail An officer observed a vehicle leaving the Speedway at Dorothy and Shroyer, and a computer check revealed the driver to be DUS. The officer stopped the vehicle, and upon contact observed a suspected Xanax pill in plain view. A search of the vehicle also revealed marijuana and methamphetamine concealed in flashlights. The driver Waco S. Wiggons (W/M/42) was placed under arrest for Drug Possession. The passenger Ronda M. Wiggins (W/F/32) was found to have an active warrant through Beavercreek for FTA on original charge of OVI, and upon confirmation she was arrested. At the jail Ronda advised she had a heroin capsule hidden in her bra, and she was also charged with Drug Possession Wednesday, January 31, An officer was sent to the area of Santa Rosa and Wagner on a suspicious vehicle. He located and stopped the vehicle after it committed a traffic violation. While making contact with the passengers he located several pills and other drug paraphernalia. Adam D. Cooley, w/m 33, and Joshua M. Kahut, w/m 35, were arrested on felony drug possession charges. Cooley was also found in possession of cocaine. Both were transported to KPD jail. While reviewing the video from the stop the officer noticed a third person involved in the stop, but not in the vehicle, had concealed something down the back of his pants. The officer made contact with Donald R. Kelly III, who admitted to hiding a marijuana cigarette and smoking it when he got home. Kelly was summonsed with obstructing official business

4 1910 Officers went to 2255 Brookbank where they arrested Shaun M. Hanna, w/m 56, on out FTA warrant An officer responded to the Greene County jail for a warrant pickup. Daniel A. Rubio (W/M/37) was arrested for the KMC warrant for Telecommunications Harassment and transported to the Kettering Jail An officer observed a vehicle at Waterbury and W. Stroop with a cracked windshield take off from him suddenly and followed it into the neighborhood. He located the vehicle parked in front of 3620 Waterbury with the lights out and engine running, and the driver slouched down in the seat. The subject admitted to driving, and investigation revealed suspected methamphetamine in his pocket. Marijuana and paraphernalia were located in the vehicle following a free air sniff. Matthew J. Whittaker (W/M/37) was arrested for drug possession and paraphernalia and transported to KPD jail. It should be noted Whittaker was arrested by KPD on similar charges on 1/24/ An officer observed a vehicle speeding on Smithville approaching Oakdale and initiated a traffic stop. The driver showed strong signs of intoxication and, following the HGN, refused all other SFSTs. Jennifer L. Kelly (W/F/39) was arrested for OVI and transported to KPD jail, where she also refused the breath test An officer served a warrant for drug possession on Jacob C. Harris (W/M/25) by fax through MCSO Officers responded to 4380 Wilmington Pk on a subject trying to get in the front door. Upon contact it was found the suspect was the homeowner s estranged relative. A LEADS checked revealed her to have a warrant through Huber Heights for FTA (DUS) and MCSO for drug abuse equipment. Upon confirmation Jessica L. Hutchinson (W/F/29) was arrested and transported to KPD jail

5 Thursday, February 1, An officer was dispatched to 4912 Springboro Pk. to meet with a Miamisburg officer, who had detained Tyler Allen Juskae, (W/M/28) on a Kettering Municipal Courts Warrant. Juskae was transported to the Kettering PD Jail without incident Officers were sent 4104 LeFevre on an unconscious person. Upon their arrival they found KFD medics were administering Narcan to Zachary J. Huff, w/m 32. Huff was removed to KMH for treatment. Officers also found that there was a protection order protecting Huff from his mother, who was at the residence. She advised she was aware of the CPO but she did not want to press charges. Huff was cited for disorderly conduct. A short time later it was learned that Huff had left KMH with his mother. Huff s mother called KPD looking for him officers went to the house and found Huff hiding under the bed. Huff was charged with violation of a CPO and obstructing official business An officer learned that warrants had been issued for Kenneth A. Wilson, w/m 37, of 1529 Forrer Blvd. He checked the residence and it appeared no one was home. The officer was in the parking lot of the post office when he saw a vehicle leave the residence. As the vehicle passed, the officer was able to verify that Wilson was in the vehicle. Wilson was arrested on original charge warrants for menacing by stalking, criminal damaging, and discharging a gun within city limits An officer stopped a vehicle on S. Dixie at Sacramento for a moving violation. During the stop he learned that there was a protection order against the driver with the protected person being the female in the car with him. David PR Elliot, w/m 31, was arrested on the verified CPO Friday, February 2, Officers initiated a traffic stop at 1525 E. Stroop of a vehicle with an expired registration. The driver, Shelika A Cook, (B/F/38), was found to have an active warrant for her arrest from Dayton. Cook was arrested and

6 transported to the Kettering PD Jail without incident. She was also cited for DUS Officers responded to the assist Moraine PD in serving a search warrant at the Relax Inn. The service was made without incident and Moraine PD took two people into custody An officer stopped a vehicle at 2901 Wilmington Pk. for no license plate light. A LEADS check revealed the driver to be DUS and to have an active warrant through Madison County Mississippi for Possession of Amphetamines. The passenger was also DUS. Upon confirmation, Darrell E. Spitler (W/M/39) was arrested for the warrant. The passenger Mindy M. Sturgill (W/F/33) was arrested for possession of Drugs (suspected meth), and both transported to KPD jail An officer responded to the KPD to serve warrants on a subject whom had been brought in by Centerville PD. John B. Heathman (W/M/22) was served original KMC warrants for Criminal Damaging and Assault Officers responded to 3513 Glaser on a family problem. Based on their investigation Harrison D. Williamson (B/M/37) was arrested for Domestic Violence. During a search of his person suspected cocaine was found, and he was also charged with Drug Possession Saturday, February 3, An officer was dispatched to the Clark County Jail to pick up Lindsay K. Edwards, (WF28), who was being detained on a Kettering Municipal Courts Warrant. Edwards was transported to the Kettering PD Jail, processed, and transferred to the Montgomery County SO Jail An officer was on patrol when he was notified by a citizen there was an ongoing disturbance at Meijer Gas. Upon his arrival, he found that Wesley W. McFadden, (W/M/31), was attempting to get into other persons vehicles. McFadden was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, and transported to the Kettering PD Jail

7 2704 Officers responded to the BP Smithville on a theft that had just occurred. Upon officers arrival they found the owner of the business following Gary J. Smith, w/m 58, who had stolen beer. Smith was arrested for theft An officer stopped a vehicle at E. Dorothy and Hathaway for a turn signal violation. A check of the driver revealed a warrant; upon confirmation Gregg A. Seebeck (W/M/56) was arrested for the Dayton warrant for a seatbelt violation Officers responded to 4432 Wehner Rd on a disturbance. A male, who appeared to be very intoxicated, was in the roadway and attempted to go inside when officers approached. A struggle ensued as he tried to close his door on the officers. Martin T. Zajovits (W/M/60) was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Official Business and transported to KPD jail An officer stopped a vehicle at Dixie at Schantz for a lane violation. Investigation and a consent search revealed various drug paraphernalia in the vehicle: 4 pipes and a scale. Shawn J. Parker (B/M/43) and Destiny M. Mullins (W/F/24) were arrested for Drug Paraphernalia and were transported to KPD jail Sunday, February 4, Officers were dispatched to Meijer, 4075 Wilmington Pike on the report of a shoplifting in progress. Upon investigation, they located Sara K. Finley (W/F/36). Finley had taken clothing and jewelry and had exited the store without paying. She was arrested for theft. A search incident to arrest revealed marijuana and a crack pipe. She was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Officers were dispatched to 1901 Hazel Apt. B4 on the report of an overdose. Officers discovered Lawrence J. Pulaski (W/M/55), whom had been administered Narcan. He was transported to KMH by medics and issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct / Public Intoxication

8 0158 An officer conducted a traffic stop on Stroop at Wagner for a moving violation. Upon investigation, it was determined that the driver, Justin T. Reinhart (W/M/26), was showing signs of intoxication. An officer working an OVI detail, responded to assist. Reinhart took the SFSTs and was subsequently arrested for OVI and transported to the KPD Jail without incident. Reinhart took a breath test and his BAC registered at An officer was on patrol near Flesher & Civic Place when he recognized a subject who had an active warrant. When the officer approached him, the subject ignored commands to stop and ran to 14 Civic Place, where he attempted to enter the residence. The officer was able to grab the subject in the doorway, and eventually tackled him inside the residence. Aaron J Ames, w/m, 33, was arrested for the warrant (Riverside PD FTA for traffic offenses) and transported to KPD Jail where he was charged with Obstruction & Resisting Arrest ###
