1 January 2012 January 5, :35 a.m. At 11:35 a.m. a contractor accidentally set the fire alarm system into alarm mode while working in the Administration Wing. All occupants were given an all clear to re-enter the building. January 16, :38 a.m. At 12:38 a.m. an officer found the bookstore unsecured. The officer secured the bookstore; the alarm company and the bookstore manager were notified. January 20, :20 a.m. At 5:20 a.m. an officer responded to a call of an alarm sounding in the Franciscan Center. The officer found the hood alarms sounding in the labs. Physical Plant personnel was notified and on scene. January 23, :10 a.m. At 9:10 a.m. an officer responded to a call of a broken window and debris in the ground floor hallway of the University Center. An investigation uncovered that a student/resident tossed a chair through the window. Disciplinary action followed and the student/resident was dismissed from the Residence Hall. February 2012 February 2, :50 a.m. At 9:50 a.m. a staff person reported that a student was feeling ill in office The subject refused medical transport and the officer escorted her to St. Mary Mercy Hospital. February 4, :13 a.m. At 3:13 a.m. two guests of a student/resident were observed tossing food on the third floor of the University Center. The subjects exited prior to the officer s arrival. Director of Residence and the Vice President for Student Affairs were notified. Disciplinary action was taken against the student/resident. February 4, :30 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. a faculty member reported that two paintings were missing from the Art Gallery. The incident occurred between February 2, 2012 and February 4, February 8, :48 p.m. At 12:48 p.m. a student reported that her catalytic converter was stolen from her 2003 Honda Element. The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in South Lot B. February 8, :45 p.m. At 3:45 p.m. a student reported that her catalytic converter was stolen from her 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. in South Lot B. February 9, :05 p.m. At 3:05 p.m. a student reported that his catalytic converter was stolen from his 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. The incident occurred on February 8, 2012 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in South Lot B. February 9, :40 p.m. At 5:40 p.m. a student fainted in room EMS was notified and on scene. The student refused medical transport and was driven to the hospital by her mother. February 11, :30 p.m. At 12:30 p.m. a faculty member reported that a student was feeling ill in room EMS was notified and on scene. The student refused medical transport and was driven home by a classmate. 1 P a g e
2 February 2012 (continued) February 12, :51 a.m. At 12:51 a.m. a resident at the Senior Clergy Village had fallen and needed assistance. An officer gained entry to the residence and assisted the resident. February 14, :45 p.m. At 3:45 p.m. a person reported that his catalytic converter was stolen from his 2012 Ford Escape. The incident occurred on February 8, 2012 between 12:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. in the north lot. February 14, :03 p.m. At 5:03 p.m. a student reported that her catalytic converter was stolen from her 1999 Pontiac Montana. The incident occurred between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in South Lot B. February 17, :20 p.m. At 5:20 p.m. a student reported that her catalytic converter was stolen from her 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The incident occurred Between February 13, 2012 and February 17, 2012 in the north lot. March 2012 March 2, :52 a.m. At 1:52 a.m. a resident reported that there was a fire in the ground floor kitchenette. An officer arrived on scene and found a resident had accidentally burned a pizza in the oven. The oven was turned off and windows were opened to clear the smoke. The fire alarm was sounded and all residents were evacuated. Livonia Fire Department arrived on scene and checked the area. The residents were given an all clear to re-enter the building. March 13, :10 p.m. At 5:10 p.m. a staff person reported that a student was having a seizure in the 1000 hallway. An officer arrived on scene and found the subject to be alert and no apparent signs of a seizure. At her request the subject was escorted home. At 8:00 p.m. a follow up call was conducted to check on her condition. March 16, :45 p.m. At 1:45 p.m. a staff person reported that her catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle. The incident occurred between 9:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. in South Lot B. March 29, :56 a.m. At 12:56 a.m. a parent of a resident was concerned for her son s personal well-being. An officer and Livonia Police questioned the resident. The father arrived on campus and met with the resident. April 2012 April 2, :45 a.m. At 9:45 a.m. a staff person reported that brass stands that were stored in a box were missing from her work area located in the 2300 wing. The brass stands were discovered missing on March 26, April 4, :10 p.m. At 6:10 p.m. a staff person observed and confronted a male outside the female team room. The subject was described as a W/M 6, medium build, brown hair, yrs., fat face, wearing brown pants and work type clothing. When questioned the subject immediately left the area. April 13, :00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m. an officer observed that a donated piece of Asian artwork in the Colonnade North Exit Hallway was damaged. It is undetermined as to when this occurred. 2 P a g e
3 April 2012 (continued) April 17, :53 p.m. At 5:53 p.m. a student reported that she wanted something on record that a fellow classmate spoke in an abusive tone towards her while in class. April 17, :55 p.m. At 9:55 p.m. a student worker reported that a student was feeling ill in the 1200 hallway. EMS was notified and canceled upon arrival of the subject s parent. The subject was transported to St. Mary Mercy Hospital. April 18, :40 p.m. At 2:40 p.m. in cooperation with the Livonia Police Department three subjects were apprehended and placed into custody after the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle that was parked in South Lot B. April 27, :45 a.m. At 11:45 a.m. a bookstore employee reported that she became suspicious of a person who was attempting to sell back books that she believed were stolen from the bookstore. The subject did not receive any money and left the books in the bookstore and fled the area. The subject was described as an African American male tall, purple shirt, wearing a tie, and black shoes. A search of the area was conducted and the subject was not located. May 2012 May 10, :40 a.m. At 7:40 a.m. an officer observed that a one hour parking sign was damaged in South Lot C. The sign was reinstalled. It is unknown as to when the incident occurred. May 17, :05 p.m. At 9:05 p.m. a faculty member reported that a student was injured and needed medical attention. The student stated that she injured her foot prior to arriving on campus. Livonia EMS was notified and transported the student to St. Mary Mercy Hospital. May 25, :40 p.m. At 7:40 p.m. a woman reported that she tripped and fell while carrying an infant in West Lot B. The subjects suffered abrasions on their legs and arms. Livonia EMS was notified and on scene. The subjects refused medical transport. June 2012 June 2, :00 p.m. At 9:00 p.m. an officer questioned and obtained identification of two persons found trespassing in the Franciscan Center. The subjects were students at another university. The subjects were advised of the university s building hours and were issued a verbal warning against trespassing. June 6, :30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m. a student reported that she has been receiving unsolicited text messages and phone calls from a classmate. The student also stated that the subject came to her place of employment. The student was advised to end all contact including social media outlets with the subject and to file a report with the police agency of her place of residence. The student was given a copy of the Anti-Stalking Laws and Personal Protection Orders. A follow up interview with the student was conducted by the Director on June 21, 2012 and during this meeting the student advised that she ended all discussions with the subject and has not had any contact with the individual. 4 June 2012 (continued) June 8, :10 a.m. At 11:10 a.m. a parent of a student reported that she needed assistance in locating her daughter who was ill. The student was observed walking on Levan Road (south of 5 Mile). Livonia Police Dispatch were on standby as the officer assisted the parent with the student. The student cooperated and the officer drove the subjects to their residence. Vice President for Student Affairs was notified. June 29, :45 a.m. At 2:45 a.m. an officer observed a student walking near the pond. The student appeared intoxicated when questioned and identified by the officer. At the request of the student the officer contacted his parents. At 3:15 a.m. the father arrived on campus and drove his son home. June 30, :18 a.m. At 2:18 a.m. a female subject was observed at the Residence Hall Handicapped Entrance. When questioned by the officer, the subject appeared to be disoriented and thought she was at St. Mary Mercy Hospital. The subject was transported to St. Mary Mercy Hospital. July 2012 July 16, :48 p.m. At 2:48 p.m. a staff person reported that a student was crying in the Take 5 Lounge. An officer questioned and calmed the student. The student was feeling distress over a scheduled meeting with her instructor. The officer contacted the instructor who met with the student. The Vice President for Student Affairs was informed. July 24, :23 a.m. At 6:23 a.m. the fire alarm sounded in the Franciscan Center. An officer responded and checked and found the building all clear. Facilities were notified and the contractor was contacted. Follow up: Johnson Control arrived on campus and repaired the problem in the panel. The fire alarm system was reset and fully operational. July 24, :15 a.m. At 10:15 a.m. the fire alarm was activated at the University Center. Investigation revealed that the cause of the alarm was from the kitchen staff failing to turn on the hood fans while cooking. The fans were turned on and the fire system was reset. August 2012 August 8, :20 p.m. At 11:20 p.m. an officer responded to a call of a medical emergency at the Senior Clergy Village. Livonia EMS was notified and on scene. The subject received medical attention and refused transport to the hospital. August 27, :50 a.m. At 11:50 a.m. an officer responded to a call of a medical emergency in the 1100 wing. The subject, a student, reported while leaving her residence she was bitten by a spider in her car. The subject was suffering pain in her thigh area. Livonia EMS was notified and transported the subject to St. Mary Mercy Hospital. September 2012 September 2, :30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. an officer questioned a driver on a motorcycle on university grounds. The subject was identified and given a verbal warning for trespassing. The subject left the grounds without incident. 4 P a g e
5 September 2012 (continued) September 2, :50 p.m. At 2:50 p.m. an officer questioned a driver of a golf cart on university grounds. The subject was identified and given a verbal warning for trespassing. The subject left the grounds without incident. September 14, :50 a.m. At 10:50 a.m. a male subject from Ohio reported that his credit card number was compromised at the bookstore. Advised Barnes & Noble Bookstore Manager. Barnes & Noble Loss Prevention was contacted and stopped the order. Further investigation uncovered that the attempted purchase was made online. The subject s money was returned to his account. Livonia Police were contacted. September 18, :30 a.m. At 1:30 a.m. an officer responded to a call of residents trapped in the University Center elevator. The students were able to free themselves. Out of Order signs were placed on the elevator and facilities personnel were contacted. September 18, :22 p.m. At 9:22 p.m. a student reported his vehicle, a 1995 Honda, was missing from the North Lot. The vehicle was last seen at 10 a.m. on September 17, The student was interviewed by the officer and Livonia Police was contacted. The keys were left in the vehicle and the vehicle was unlocked. At this time the vehicle has not been officially reported as recovered. September 22, :20 p.m. At 12:20 p.m. Livonia Fire Department responded to a possible drug overdose at the Residence Hall. An officer responded and met the paramedics. Per the paramedics the student may have suffered a seizure and is taking a prescribed medication. The Director of Public Safety and the Director of Residence Life were notified and on scene. September 26, :15 a.m. At 11:15 a.m. a staff person tripped and fell in an office in the 1300 wing. The subject stated that she twisted her ankle. Director of Human Resources was notified and the subject was sent to Concentra for treatment. September 26, :30 p.m. At 12:30 p.m. a staff person was feeling ill in the receiving area. Livonia EMS were notified and on scene. The subject stated that it may have been a reaction to pain medication and refused medical transport. The subject was escorted to her residence on campus. September 27, :20 p.m. At 4:20 p.m. a staff person reported kids were on the roof at the dorm. Upon arrival the officer searched the area. No persons were found. Investigation revealed persons unknown had exited a window on the sub roof and climbed to the upper roof. A facilities work order for securing the window was processed. September 30, :00 p.m. At 1 p.m. a resident reported a student/resident drove her vehicle without her consent. The subject was advised to file a report with Livonia Police which the subject declined. Copies of report to Vice President for Student affairs and Director of Residence Life. 5 P a g e
6 October 2012 October 1, :30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. a parent of a student/resident reported to the Director of Public Safety that his son s vehicle, a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, was stolen from the North Lot on September 28, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. A report was filed with Livonia Police on the night of the incident. The investigation is ongoing. October 3, :55 p.m. At 6:55 p.m. an officer responded to a domestic assault between a student resident and her boyfriend. The boyfriend was detained and identified as a commuter student. The student/resident and witnesses were interviewed. The victim refused to have the subject arrested for assault. There was no physical bruising and redness on the victim. Information pamphlet on Domestic Violence and Personal Protection Order was given to the victim. The subject (boyfriend) was advised that he was banned from the residence hall and escorted off campus. The Director of Public Safety and the Director of Residence Life were contacted. Copies of the report to Vice President of Student Life and the Director of International Students Office. October 10, :00 a.m. At 8 a.m. a student left a voice mail message stating that her catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle on October 9, 2012 between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The vehicle was parked in South Lot A. Livonia Police were contacted. October 10, :00 a.m. At 4 p.m. a student reported her vehicle s front bumper was damaged while being parked in South Lot C. It is unknown as to how the vehicle sustained the damage. A report was filed. October 15, :33 a.m. At 9:35 a.m. Livonia Dispatch 911 reported that a person had suffered a seizure in the Athletic offices between the gymnasium and Kresge Hall. An officer located the person (a student of the Livonia Skill Center) in the 1600 hallway and escorted EMS to the scene. The Livonia Skill Center staff was informed of the proper procedure in notifying EMS. The student was driven to Beaumont Hospital by his parent. October 23, :40 p.m. At 6:40 p.m. an officer responded to a complaint of a disorderly student in a classroom located in the 1400 hallway. The officer advised the student to the premises which he complied. On October 30, 2012 the student met with the Director of Public Safety. The Vice President of Student Services and the Department Chair were notified. October 26, :35 p.m. At 3:35 p.m. a staff person reported items were stolen from his vehicle on October 24, 2012 between 2:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The vehicle was parked in Convent Parking. The items included a cell phone plug, a Garmin GPS and a makeup kit. November 2012 November 1, :00 a.m. At 8 a.m. a staff person reported a co-worker was feeling ill outside of the Maertens Building. An officer responded and Livonia EMS were notified and on scene. The subject was transported to St. Mary Mercy Hospital. November 7, :15 a.m. At 1:15 a.m. a resident of the Senior Clergy Village was feeling ill. Livonia EMS was notified and on scene. The resident refused medical transport. A copy of the report was sent to the Director of the Senior Clergy Village. 6 P a g e
7 November 2012 (continued) November 17, :50 p.m. At 6:45 p.m. a student reported that her purse was stolen out of the Woman s Team Room in the Activity Center between 6:30 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. The room and purse were not secured during the time of the theft. November 17, :00 p.m. At 10 p.m. a student reported that her wallet was stolen from the Women s Team Room in the Activity Center between 6:30 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. The room and wallet were not secured during the time of the theft. November 20, :00 a.m. At 1 a.m. an officer and Livonia Police responded to a domestic situation in the Residence Hall. The parties involved were cooperative and no further action was taken. Copies of the report were sent to the Director of Residence Life and the Vice President for Student Affairs. November 27, :05 a.m. At 7:05 a.m. a staff person reported seeing a suspicious male in the Men s Team Room located in the Activities Center. An officer questioned and identified two subjects in the East Lot. The subjects were given a verbal warning against trespassing on university property and escorted off campus. The Men s Team Room was secured. November 29, :00 p.m. At 11:00 p.m. an officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the Ladywood High School Parking Lot. The driver of the vehicle was questioned and Livonia Police were notified. The subject left the grounds without incident. December 2012 December 4, :40 p.m. At 5:40 p.m. an officer responded to a call of a student being verbally abusive towards the staff at Student Accounts. The student vacated the premises. A copy of the report was sent to the Vice President of Student Affairs. December 4, :40 p.m. At 2:40 p.m. a staff person reported that a student had been acting unusual thus causing concern among the students and staff. Advised the Vice President of Student Affairs. December 14, :50 p.m. At 7:50 p.m. a student in the Residence Hall reported that her laptop was stolen from her room. There was no sign of a forced entry. The incident occurred between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The investigation is ongoing. December 17, :00 p.m. At 9:00 a.m. a staff person reported that two framed glass pictures were found broken when he arrived at his office in the 1200 Wing.
