3 ORDER OF PROCEEDINGS PRIZES AND SCHOLARSHIPS Prizes and scholarships are awarded each year to students in the Faculty for meritorious work. These are offered annually and made available through the generosity of individuals, public and private organisations. Most prizes and scholarships are offered subject to the provision that they will be awarded only when a student has attained a mark or level of achievement considered by the Faculty Board to be sufficiently high. MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN The annual Prizes and Scholarships Award Ceremony is more than a formal acknowledgment of a student's academic achievement. It is a celebration of that achievement and recognition of the effort and discipline, which with the support of family and friends, students have manifested in their studies. I congratulate recipients on the successful completion of an academic year of study in 2008 and embrace them to become life-long learners. The university endeavours not only to develop the professional skills of its students, but also to foster graduates who are able to act with courage and responsibility, giving sound and ethical consideration to the issues we face in modern society. And so I wish them every success as not only future leaders of industry but also of our community.
