Examples of the criteria include, but are not limited to: superior academic achievement, demonstrated interest/accomplishment in a particular focus area and financial need. Scholarships that Do Not Require a Separate Application Students are automatically considered for these scholarships at the time of application to the graduate school programs. Name Description Ben M. Cherrington Endowed Fellowship Established in 1977 by the American Institute of Research in honor of Ben Cherrington, HD '53, this endowed fellowship supports students in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. Ben Cherrington was one of the founders of the school. Chester Lee Brinser, III Endowed Scholarship Established in 2007 by Sara Joann Upchurch and Allison Elizabeth Jeffords, the Chester Lee Brinser III Endowed Scholarship provides scholarship support to students who are candidates in the Humanitarian Assistance Certificate program. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated financial need, and must have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. Scholarship recipients are Christian Updike, MD Endowed Scholarship David A. Price Endowed Scholarship Donald W. Hoagland Endowed Scholarship designated Brinser Established in 2011 by Jan C. Updike, MD, and Phyllis A. Updike, DNS. Scholarship recipients shall be Korbel graduate students seeking the Certificate in Global Health Affairs (or its equivalent) selected by the Dean, in consultation with his or her Director of Admissions and the Global Health Director, on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Scholarship recipients shall be designated as Christian Updike Established in 1999 by David A. Price, PhD 75, the David A. Price Scholarship supports graduate students in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies (JKSIS) Conflict Resolution Program. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Recipients are designated as David A. Price Established in 2012 by the Hoagland Family, the Donald W. Hoagland Endowed

Allen Endowed Fellowship John W. and Angelina Rice Endowed Memorial Scholarship Josef Korbel Endowed Fellowship Scholarship provides scholarship support to students who are committed to improving the lives of people in the developing world. Scholarship recipients shall be selected by the Dean on the basis of academic/merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Scholarship recipients shall be designated as Hoagland The endowed scholarship fund provides scholarship support to students who are selected based on academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Established in 2002 by the Greenlee Family Foundation and William D. Stanfill, in honor of Jane Page, the Jane Page Endowed Scholarship supports female graduate students studying Human Rights, Conflict Resolution or who are in the Master's International program at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. Recipients are selected based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need, and must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. Recipients shall be designated as Jane Page Established in the early 1970s by John T. Allen, this endowed fellowship supports students on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Established in 2003 by James T., BSBA '74, and Ann Bishop Lampman, BA '73, in honor of Dr. John W. Rice (Vice Chancellor of Students, ) and Mrs. Angelena Rice, the John W. and Angelena Rice Memorial Endowed Scholarship supports graduate students in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. Recipients are selected based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need, and must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better on a 4.0 scale. Scholarship recipients must make a documented commitment to pursuing meaningful employment or a significant level of service (funded or volunteer) in international relations or related fields following their enrollment at the Josef Korbel School. Recipients are designated as Rice Established in 2010 by Madeleine Korbel Albright, John Korbel, and Kathy Silva to honor

Senesh Endowed Scholarship Lu Chung Tao Endowed Scholarship the legacy of Josef Korbel at the University, the Josef Korbel School Endowed Fellowship provides fellowship support to Master s and Doctoral students. Fellowship recipients shall be selected by the Dean and the amount of each award shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Fellowship recipients shall be designated as Josef Korbel Fellows. Established in 1975 by alumni in honor of the school s former director, Josef Korbel, the Josef Korbel Endowed Scholarship supports deserving Korbel students. Established in 2004 through a bequest from Lawrence G. Senesh, Professor Emeritus of Economics, this endowed scholarship supports graduate students. Established in 1998 by Mrs. Diamon Tao, '79, the Lu Chung Tao Endowed Scholarship supports outstanding graduate or Ph.D. students pursuing a degree at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. Preference is given to Chinese students who are current students or alumni of Beijing University with an academic focus in economics and/or financial service development. Recipients must also have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, demonstrated leadership ability, financial need, and a commitment to fostering international understanding. Recipients are designated as Lu Chung Tao Mandula Korbel Endowed Scholarship Established in 2012 by Krishen Mehta, 72 MBA, the Mandula Korbel Endowed Scholarship at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies provides scholarship support to graduate students. The scholarship recipient shall be selected by the Dean or his or her delegate on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Scholarship recipients shall be designated as Mandula Korbel Marie-Louise Cain Endowed Scholarship Establishes in 2000 by Melinda Cain Widener, MA 80, PhD 92, in memory of her mother Marie-Louise Cain, MA 66, the Marie-Louise Cain Endowed Scholarship supports graduate students. Recipients are selected by the Dean based on academic merit and

Recipients are designated as Marie-Louise Cain Mimi Fowler Endowed Scholarship Established in 2012 by Margaret Fowler, the Mimi Fowler Endowed Scholarship supports graduate students. Recipients shall be selected by the Dean based on academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Specifically, preference will be given to students coming from and planning to return to countries underrepresented at the Josef Korbel School. A secondary preference will be given to students from Korea. Scholarships recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better on a 4.0 scale. Recipients are designated as Mimi Fowler Nathan Altshuler Endowed Scholarship Established in 2011 by Janet C. Tuthill, MA 75, the Nathan Altshuler Endowed Scholarship provides scholarship support to graduate students. Scholarship recipients shall be selected by the Dean on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Scholarship recipients shall be designated as Nathan Altshuler Nicholas and Nancy Petry Endowed Established in 1996 by Nick and Nancy Petry, the Nicholas and Nancy Petry Endowed benefits outstanding graduate students. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need, and must maintain a GPA of 3.5. Recipients must also possess a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have demonstrated leadership ability as an undergraduate and a commitment to fostering international understanding and promoting human values. Recipients are designated as Nicholas and Nancy Petry Philip G. Clay Family Endowed Scholarship for The endowed scholarship is available to the USMC graduate students currently on active duty, in the reserves or who have served in the U.S. Marine Corps that are pursuing a graduate degree. Recipients are selected based on academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Recipients shall be designated as Philip G. Clay Family Quigg and Virginia Newton Endowed Established in 1997 by Quigg and Virginia S.

Anderson Endowed Fellowship Sara Hoagland Endowed Scholarship SIE Cheou-Kang Fellowship Newton. Scholarship recipients shall be graduate or Ph.D. students selected by the Dean on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrate financial need. Scholarship recipients shall be designated as Newton Established in 2011 by Stephen L. Good. Recipients shall be selected by the Dean on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Scholarship recipients shall be designated as Robert C. Good Established in 1968 by Robert O. Anderson, HD '72, former DU trustee, the Robert O. Anderson Endowed Fellowship supports students on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Established in 1997 by Donald and Mary Hoagland in honor of their daughter, Sara, MA '81, the Sara Hoagland Endowed Scholarship supports fellowships based on need and merit. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA out of a 4.0 scale. Established to honor Sié Chéou-Kang, the Sié Chéou-Kang Fellowship is housed in the the Sié Center. It offers a unique program to a select group of exceptional scholars, the Sié Fellows, who seek a career in international security, diplomacy, or a related field. Sié Fellows receive a two-year full-tuition scholarship to the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. The Sié Fellowship is highly competitive. Each year, the Sié Fellowship is awarded to 10 incoming students with a previous history of academic success (high GPA and GRE scores) and a demonstrated interest in International Security and Diplomacy (relevant internship and work experience). All completed applications are considered with no additional forms or essays required. Applicants are encouraged to complete their applications by the January 15 th application deadline. The Sié curriculum is tailored to its Fellows interests. Sié Fellows can pursue any of the degrees offered at the Josef Korbel School,
6 J o s e f K o r b e l S c h o o l G r a d u a t e S c h o l a r s h i p s P a g e 6 St. John-Lukens Endowed Scholarship Stanley Hornbeck Endowed Scholarship Stephanie and Ed Benton Endowed Scholarship Szyliowicz Language Support Endowed including International Security; International Development; Global Finance, Trade and Economic Integration; and International Human Rights. Fellows are encouraged to select an elective curriculum that will meet their long-term career goals and are required to complete an intensive internship in a related area. The Sié Center also supports opportunities for graduates of the Sié Fellows program to network with other Sié Fellows throughout their careers. Established in 2009 by Michael G. St. John, the purpose of this scholarship is to foster an understanding of world politics among United States military leaders by providing scholarship support to officers enrolled in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. Scholars shall be selected by the Dean based on academic merit and their capacity for effective leadership. Preference shall be given to active-duty officers currently serving in the United States military, and to officers currently serving in the U.S. military reserve. Established in 1971 by Vivienne Barkalow Hornbeck in honor of Stanley Hornbeck, this endowed scholarship supports students who have a special interest and have demonstrated a capability in Asian studies. Established in 2012 by Edgar Benton, the Stephanie and Ed Benton Endowed Scholarship supports graduate students. Recipients shall be selected by the Dean in consultation with the Director of Admissions on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Scholarship recipients shall be designated as Benton Established in 2010 by Joseph S. Szyliowicz, BA 53, the Joseph S. Szyliowicz Language Support Endowed provides financial support to help defray the costs for intensive language training to outstanding students at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. Award recipients shall be selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Recipients shall be designated as Joseph S. Szyliowicz Fellows.

Recipients shall be selected by the Dean on the basis of academic merit and/or demonstrated financial need. Specifically, preference shall be given to international female students from South Asia. In the event that an international female student is not identified, an alternative female candidate will be selected. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better on a 4.0 scale. Recipients shall be designated as Two Sisters W. Robert Laitos Endowed Scholarship Established in 1999 by W. Robert Laitos, MA '79, the W. Robert Laitos Endowed Scholarship supports graduate students. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need, and must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. Recipients are designated as Laitos Vincent Connelly Endowed Scholarship Established in 2008 by Vincent F. Connelly, the Vincent Connelly Endowed Scholarship supports outstanding graduate students.
