Foothills Community Foundation is able to help you develop and personalize a charitable giving plan to create a lasting legacy while reducing your tax liability. By taking advantage of the current tax codes, you are able to give less in taxes and give more to the causes you care most about. For the past 15 years, Foothills Community Foundation has been here to help you develop a plan for giving throughout your lifetime as well as setting up a legacy that would reduce the size of your taxable estate upon your death. 7 Field of Interest Funds Field of interest funds are established to support particular interest areas, specific program initiatives, causes or geographic areas. Donor Advised Funds Donor advised funds are established by donors who wish to actively participate in the grantmaking process. Individuals who establish a donor advised fund recommend charitable distributions to projects and organizations they want to support. 8 Coming Soon: Public Dog Park Dr. Marshall Meadors is the current chairman of the Foundation s TBA 100 initiative. The Dog Park is the group s fourth project aimed at improving the enjoyment of Anderson s downtown. The TBA 100 group was formed by Cordes Seabrook in 2006 as a means to achieve 100 donors donating $1,000 each toward beautification projects that eliminate eyesores in Anderson s downtown. Dr. Meadors emphasizes that today, the fund accepts gifts in any amount. Marshall points out that the park will benefit the entire community. A dog park plays a role in the socialization of a city. It is a place where people and dogs gather, relationships are built, and lives become connected. Anderson s First Dog Park will be located mid-block of 300 East Whitner and East Benson streets on property donated by First Baptist Church Please consider a tax deductible donation to the TBA 100 Fund. Your gift will bring us closer to building this park, beautifying the downtown area and providing off-leash time for man s best friend. 9 Two successful business owners who believe in giving back to their community Donor Spotlight Louise & Ernest Tr ammell Following separate paths to success, Louise and Ernie Trammell have chosen to do business in their hometown. They believe in giving back to the community that has been good to them. The Trammell Donor Advised Fund at the Foundation provides a means for them to support the causes that have meant so much to them. They agree that solving problems for their clients is the most rewarding aspect of their respective careers. A gift of appreciated stock to the Foundation helped the Trammells develop a philanthropic plan, while avoiding capital gains taxes that would be due as a result of its sale. It was a simple solution, according to Louise. Following a successful career in Atlanta, Louise returned home to found her own company Martin Advertising, representing many of Anderson s leading businesses. She recently celebrated her firm s 25th anniversary. As a wife, mother and business owner, Louise still donates time and resources to her community. Her work with the American Red Cross brought her in touch with Foothills Community Foundation where she worked with Robert Rainey to arrange a matching grant program to benefit the Red Cross. Growing up in Anderson, Ernie was active in athletics, church and the Boy Scouts. Always desiring to be an attorney, he completed his law degree at the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, later forming his own law firm. Today, he enjoys working alongside his attorney son, Roy at Trammell & Mills Law Firm, LLC. In addition to practicing law, Ernie is active in community and civic affairs. He is a past Chairman of the Board of the Anderson Area YMCA and currently serves on the Fund Development Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts and serves on the Eagle Board of Review for the Six and Twenty District. Louise and Ernie are active in St. John s United Methodist Church and spend their leisure time traveling, attending Clemson University athletic events and relaxing on the lake.

Lyons Memorial Scholarship Recipients Foothills Community Foundation is pleased to present the 2014 recipients of the Jonny A. Lyons Memorial Scholarship. A bequest from Mrs. John Joseph Lyons provides scholarship assistance to descendants of former Orr-Lyons Mill employees. Each recipient receives a $2,000 scholarship from Foothills Community Foundation. The four recipients of the Lyons Scholarship for 2014 are Tamia Alexis Glover, Thomas Warner Roberts, Keri Lynn Rousey and Reagen H. Welch. Miss Glover is a Furman student and a recent graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School. Mr. Roberts, who graduated from T. L. Hanna High School, is a student at Clemson University. Miss Rousey and Miss Welch are recent graduates of Crescent High School. Miss Rousey attends Winthrop University, while Miss Welch is continuing her education at Southern Wesleyan University.
