1 Awards (i) 9TH ASSOCHAM HIGHER EDUCATION SUMMIT 2016, 17 th February 2016 Gujarat Technological University (GTU) received an award of Best University Support for Students, which was given by Prof. (Dr.) Ram Shankar Katheria, Hon ble Minister of State for HRD (Higher Education) at the event of 9th Higher Education Summit & National Excellence Awards 2016 in New Delhi organized by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). Team comprising of Shri J C Lilani, I/c Registrar,Mr. Amit Patel, Assistant Professor (IPR)and Mr. Kaushik Akiwatkar, Project Officer (Entrepreneurship) received the award at the ceremony on behalf of GTU. The ASSOCHAM awards in education are given under seven categories, which encompasses higher education awards, B-school awards, science and technology awards, K-12 awards, vocational and skills training, service providers and excellence in sports. 2 (ii)3rd edition of India Skills Report 2016 in association with CII, LinkedIn and PeopleStrong On 26 th November 2015, Gujarat Technological University was awarded for the Best contributor award towards building India Skills Report The Award was been felicitated during India Skills report 2016 at CII 4 th National Skills Summit at The Taj Palace, New Delhi. Our Deputy Director Mrs Pina Bhatt with Assistant Professor Mr Margam Suthar received the award in presence of Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy. 3 On August 22 nd 2015, GTU was awarded Best Higher Education Institute under Government Sector Initiative for Entrepreneurship and Student Startup Support System. The summit was organized by Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies and Elets Technomedia Pvt. Ltd. The organizations such as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India and National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) participated in previous World Education Summit at highest level. Honorable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, received the award in presence of Shri Manish Sisodiya, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. (iv)4 th Digital Learning World Education Summit Awards, August 7-8, 2014 On August 7 th 2014, GTU was awarded Best Higher Education Institute in Public-Private Partnership at Hotel Eros, New Delhi India. The event was organized by Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd. (v)assocham Education Excellence Awards, February 19, 2014 On February , GTU was awarded Best Higher Education Institute/University of the Year at Hotel Shangri-La, Janpath, New Delhi Organized by ASSOCHAM India. The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), India's premier apex chamber covers a membership of over 4 lakh companies and professionals across the country. The jury this year had on board a panel of pre-eminent personalities across significant domains of the social set-up, who, brilliantly adept as they are, shall apply their expertise and adroit wisdom to arrive at the most reasoned and deserved of judgments. ASSOCHAM assured that the entire process of evaluation and assessment would be conducted by the esteemed jury with highest tenets of transparency and accountability. (vi)dainik Bhaskar National Educational leadership Award, October 2013 On 23 rd October 2013, Dainik Bhaskar Group conferred Dr Akshai Aggarwal with the award for outstanding contribution to education at glittering ceremony at Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai. These are very prestigious awards and are well researched and chosen by an independent jury and a panel of professionals who believe in nurturing Talent and in recognizing the best of the best. Dainik Bhaskar National Education Awards has recognized institutions that are innovative modern & industry related in their curriculum in Marketing, Advertising, Marketing Communications, Engineering & Technology, etc. (vii)cci Technology Education Excellence Awards 2013 On 18th May 2013, GTU was awarded as Best University in internationalization of its Faculty and Students under Government University category. GTU has made unmatched progress in this area by setting up Indo-German and Indo-Canadian Study Centres, various International Experience Programs, a number of foreign faculty advising GTU students in their research along with making special presentation during Research Week and specially designed workshops and GCSR project under MBA program. The event was organized jointly with Communication Multimedia Applications Infrastructure (CMAI) Association of India which is an association with 48,500 members and 54 MOU partners across the globe. ASSOCHAM, a National Chamber of Commerce and Industries also supported the event. The Jury was constituted by CMAI to transparently adjudge the entries on their merit. 7 On 7th May 2013, GTU won CMAI s 7 th NTA ICT World Communication Award 2013 for being Pioneer in ICT Education at FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi, India. The Award presented by Dr. Hamadoun I. 8 On 23 rd April 2013, GTU won the World Education Awards 2013 in Higher Education for: ecampus Initiative for its project Active Learning at Le Méridien New Delhi, India. The event was organized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd. It was Co- Organized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and partnered by National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT). Hon ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, Registrar Dr. Gitesh Joshi and the Project Coordinator Ms. Roma Thakur received the award at New Delhi, India on 23 rd of April (x)assocham (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India ) National Excellence Award 2013 for Best Government University for Promoting Industry-Academic Interface, delivered by Dr. M.M. 9 On 9th April 2013, GTU won ASSOCHAM National Education Excellence Awards 2013 for Best Government University for Promoting of Industry- Academic Interface Award. ASSOCHAM is the oldest leading APEX CHAMBER set up in 1920, catering directly and indirectly to over 3,50,000 members from all over the country with 300 regional Chambers associated with it. The distinguished jury were :- Shri Surendra Singh, Former Cabinet Secretary, Government of India Prof Sukhdev Thorat. Former Chairman UGC Shri Bhartendra Singh Baswan, Former Education Secretary, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. Shri M. N. 10 On 17th February 2013, DNA & Stars of the Industry Group Presented Innovative B-School Awards at Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai to Gujarat Technological University for Outstanding Contribution to Education. The Innovative B-School Awards recognized Innovation as a key competence which helps Business Schools gain a competitive edge. Hon ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, was present to receive the award. (xii)aims International Innovative University Award The Association of Indian Management Scholars (AIMS) International was established to unify Indian management scholars to foster excellence in education and research, to advance knowledge, and to support practices in all business and related disciplines. Looking to the multi-faceted activities and innovative contributions of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) in improving the technical and management education in the State of Gujarat, the Association of Indian Management Scholars (AIMS) International awarded GTU for the AIMS International Innovative University Award. 11 On April 14, 2011, GTU won the best jury Award under in category of Best Interface between Academia Industry at the World Education Summit 2011, New Delhi for its GTU Innovation Council project. The event was organized by IGNOU in association with the Centre for Science Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) and Elets Technomedia. The Co-organizers were AICTE, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communication & IT, Government of India, National e-governance Plan and others. 12 (xv) Sherdil Gujarat Award Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad was awarded for outstanding work in the area of blood donation in a state level function organized by Indian Red Cross Society. GTU received the award from HE Dr Kamalaji, Governor of Gujarat, Honorable Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi & Honorable Health Minister Shri Jay Narayan Vyas. 13 (xvi)thalassemia Awareness & Testing Program Award Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad was awarded for outstanding work in the area of Thalassemia Awareness & Testing in a state level function organized by Indian Red Cross Society. GTU received the award at the hands of Her Excellency Dr Kamalaji, Governor of Gujarat. 14 (xviii)ict Enabled University Award E-India 2009 Gujarat Technological University has been awarded the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Enabled University of the year award by the Jury in the E - India 2009 award ceremony held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad on 26 th August, The event was organized by the Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies CSDMS and co-organized by Ministry of Communication and IT, Government of India as well as National E governance plan. The event was sponsored by companies like IBM, SIEMENS, Microsoft, Infosys Etc. Awards were given in several Categories like e-agriculture, e- Gov, Digital Learning, e- Health etc. Gujarat Technological University has been awarded as ICT enabled University in the Digital Learning Category. The ICT enabled University of the year Award seeks to acknowledge and highlight the achievements of a University in bringing new and innovative endeavors for the benefit of the Higher Education community. (xix)manthan Award South Asia 2009 Gujarat Technological University has been awarded this for its project - Gujarat Common Entrance Exam (GCET -2009). This was the first time in India that any State level (Government) Entrance Exam had conducted an online entrance test. The entire project used cutting edge technology and offered innovative solutions to address online application, online exam delivery and instantaneous declaration of printed score card and online counselling through online allocation of college seats for admission. GCET 2009 is conducted by GTU for admissions to Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Computer Application Gujarat (MCA) courses in all institutions throughout Gujarat. About 25,000 students appear in the entrance test at 25 locations in Gujarat. A student can take the test a second time, if he/ she wants, with the best of the two scores being considered for admission.
