2 Interdisciplinary Simulation Code or Rapid Response Simulation Students work in groups 6 scenarios each followed by a debriefing Respiratory Distress/Arrest Tachyarrhythmias Bradyarrhythmias Ventricular Fibrillation Asystole PEA Final 7 th scenario Graded, team score Two different dysrhythmias Random roles assigned

3 Interdisciplinary Simulation 6 ACLS Team Roles 1. CNA or LVN: VS, CPR, environment, supplies 2. RT: Airway/oxygen, CPR 3. RN: Documentation, communication 4. RN: Rhythm interpretation, electrical intervention 5. RN: Medication administration 6. ALCS Team Leader: Assessment, assures evidence based practice

12 Pediatric Simulation Focus is pediatric patient situations 1. Pneumonia 2. Asthma 3. Broncheolitis 4. Pertussis 5. Allergic Rash 6. Chicken Pox 7. Seizure 8. Diarrhea Dehydration 9. GERD 10. Pain 11. Burns Each scenario is followed by a debriefing

13 Pediatric Simulation Five roles are carried out by RN students 1. RN 2. CNA 3. Family member 4. Debriefing Leader 5. Observer Several different scenarios are run each class day so that each student has a turn at each role

14 Pediatric Simulation How do we do it? Radios AV Guide family member reaction (i.e. to seizure or change in condition) Guide family member to point to images on monitor (i.e. rashes) Props Family member to show props to RN (i.e. full diaper, washcloth with emesis, tissue with sputum)
