4 SESSION DESCRIPTIONS Day One: Nov. 7, 2012 General Session 1: 9:00-10:15 a.m. Session 1 Health Care s New Horizon: A 10-year Prognosis Explore the unprecedented changes in health care and what the industry may look like in ten years. Today s health care system feeds off of volume doing more tests and more procedures. Tomorrow it may act like other industries in that it feeds off of quality and efficiency keeping people healthy in a cost-efficient manner. Kenneth Weixel, CPA, life sciences and health care managing partner, Deloitte & Touche, LLP, will kick off this conference by painting a picture of how the health care industry may look in the future. You ll learn how technology deadlines, new payment models and market forces are prompting a flurry of hospital-physician alignments and mergers among hospital systems. Weixel will explain how patient-care will be based less on volume and more on wellness and how there will be a surge of evidence-based medicine and information sharing among hospitals, physicians and insurance companies. (SK) General Session 2: 10:30-11:45 a.m. Session 2 Transitioning to ICD-10: A Light at the End of the Tunnel? Review the status of the ICD-10 transition.
