12 THURSDAY, July 11, 2013 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS OD EDUCATION PROGRAM Don t Just Survive Health Care Reform Learn How to THRIVE SPEAKER: DR. JIM GRUE Description: One of the significant changes occurring under health care reform is a process of redefining quality of care. Historically, most quality measures were based on what the provider did. What tests were done, what the training of the provider is, whether he or she is board certified. Provider based quality assessment is being replaced by patient centric quality measures, the most important being the final outcomes of the patient. Outcome based medicine changes every aspect of care delivery. As we rapidly approach a time when every patient is going to be able to go to Medicare and other payer web pages and compare the quality of care you provide against all other providers, you start to recognize the scope of change occurring. This course will help guide you through the cultural change you and your office are going to have to undergo to meet the new and expanded quality requirements that patients and payers are going to demand. Quality Ocular Surface Disease Update SPEAKER: DR. JOHN LAHR Description: This course evaluates the pathophysiology of dry eye and describes the latest in diagnostic technology. Current treatment modalities are covered with an emphasis on new technology. Anti-inflammatory treatments will be extensively covered along with nutritional supplements. We close with management in coding and billing. Ocular Surface Grand Rounds SPEAKER: DR. JOHN LAHR Description: A complete review of four common cases of ocular surface disease including meibomian gland disease, EBMD, non-inflammatory dry eye and inflammatory-based dry eye. Presented will be initial presentation, biomicroscopic views, diagnostic testing, treatment plan and important follow-up care schedule. Prepare Your Practice For Tomorrow SPEAKER: JAY BINKOWITZ Description: Yesterday, Today or Tomorrow? Where are you positioned? Managing our practices is a complex maze of managing Relationships, Patient Care, Consumer Experience, Technology, Staff, Products, Online Presence, and let s not forget, our own families, just to mention a few. During this course we will take a tour of what we need to think about as we prepare to succeed tomorrow, as well as having an opportunity for some of us to share what they have already accomplished today. RICHARD KATTOUF, CAROLE BURNS, AND JOHN LARCABAL Description: Many doctors and staff seem to be working harder and enjoying less profit. Dr. Shaw-McMinn will share ideas on how to increase profits in your office. These ideas are the result of lectures given at Vision Expos by six practice management experts. RICHARD KATTOUF Description: Most O.D. s perceive adding employees increases the cost of operation. This is true if they are not trained to be income producers. JEFFREY GERSON Description: This course will use patient cases to illustrate how OCT can help in diagnosis and management of retinal disease. It will also go over use of OCT in glaucoma. Diabetes in Your Practice: What You Find May Surprise You SPEAKER: DR. JEFFREY GERSON Description: Approximately 1/3 of people with diabetes are unaware that they have the disease. ODs play an integral role in helping patients with diabetes and this course will explore ways that can happen, both from a systemic and ocular perspective. Great Debate: Staff Managed Tactics MODERATOR: DR. PETER SHAW- MCMINN PANEL: DRS. RICHARD KATTOUF, CAROLE BURNS, AND JOHN LARCABAL Description: When doctors and office managers get together, the main topic of discussion is often human resource management. The experts will share their secrets in hiring staff, training staff, motivating staff, and building a team which provides excellent patient care and few problems. Should I have a twitter account? Can t my website company take care of this for me? My staff member keeps asking me if she can create a Facebook page, should I let her do this? Do I still need the Yellow Pages? What about Yellowpages.com? What is SEO and does it tell me how many new patients came in because of my website? This course will answer your questions and guide you into creating the correct digital marketing strategy for your office. PAGE 09

These standards are hard to meet, and easy for the payers to view claims data and identify over payments (over payments are incorrect claims including under coding and over coding alike). CS EYE will look at your billing patterns, pull out the magnifying glass and identify the same aberrant billing patterns that 3rd Party payers are searching for within their own claims data. Do you know if your patterns are consistent with anticipated usages? As a small business owner, YOU NEED TO! ODX members have a rare opportunity to have CS EYE identify any potential dangers within your data. The charge is zero, the impact may be priceless! Telscreen 8012 Vine Crest Avenue Suite 3 Louisville, KY BOOTH 205, Wes Harris Sales@TelScreen.com Patients trust their eye doctor, but subconsciously many still won t believe that they really have a medical eye condition which requires action, because the symptoms aren t that bad. When patients see images and videos of their eye problem, that problem becomes real and personal to them. Then, patients stick with the treatment plan because they want to see how much progress they have made at their follow-up visit. TelScreen is pleased to partner with OD Excellence to provide imaging systems that deliver great cash flow for your practice while helping you deliver fantastic patient education that has a real impact on eye health outcomes. Anyone can attach a camera to a slit lamp, but only TelScreen has been focused on slit-lamp imaging for 20 years. EyeRes imaging systems provide audit-quality photo-documentation of all external and anterior-segment conditions (559 ICD codes), and most posterior-segment conditions. Starting under $9,000, EyeRes systems are surprisingly affordable, provide high return on investment, and can be cash flow positive in the first month. Although we fit a wide variety of slit lamps, we also offer the EyeRes-SL slit lamp, which is designed for optimal imaging. Purchase any EyeRes imaging system during the International Vision Conference and receive a free Fluorescence- Enhancing Lens ($250 value) and save $500 on networked image access software.
