Boy s meeting Division Open- I-V will begin at 9:00 a.m. and Girls Division Open- I-V meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. BRACKETS AND BALLS MAY BE PICKED UP UNTIL 1:30 ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18. COACHES MAY ALSO PICK UP SCOUTING PASSES AND BASKETBALLS ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2017 FROM 8:00 A.M UNTIL 4:30 P.M. AT THE CIFSDS OFFICE. Pairings will be posted and announced at the CIFSDS Office on Saturday, February 18, Boys pairings will be posted at 11:30 a.m., Girls pairings will be posted at 1:00 p.m. A Spalding basketball will be distributed to each team entered into the playoffs. If team is an automatic qualifier or if you anticipate being selected at-large, you must complete and submit in its entirety your team schedule & results information via the CIFSDS Home site. All scores/team updates must be entered into CIFSDS Home by midnight, February 17, The State C.I.F basketball entry/information must be submitted by February 28, 2017 to the CIF State Office. Please follow the links below to review the online State CIF Basketball Information Form and the Team Roster/ Team Photo submittal information. The following forms must be submitted: CIF Basketball Regional Information Form (Submittal of State Online Form) Deadline: February 28, Team Roster and Team Photo (Submit to State Office, Rebecca Brutlag, rbrutlag@cifstate.org and to CIF- San Diego Section Office, Stacy Candia, stacycifsds@gmail.com). Deadline: March 2, OFFICIAL PLAYOFF BASKETBALL Spalding graciously provides all the section playoff basketballs and will be the official basketball for the 2017 C.I.F San Diego Section Basketball Championships. Spalding is the official ball for the state CIF Regional Championships, and state CIF Finals. 4. QUALIFYING The San Diego CIF Basketball playoffs will consist of six divisions. Open Division = 8 teams Division I=16 team, Division II=16 teams, Division III=16 teams, Division IV=16 teams, and Division V=12 teams. The Commissioner s Office will seed teams and will determine all draws (without regard to League Champions) after input from the Basketball Pairings Committee.
2 QUALIFYING FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONALS San Diego Section teams will be entered in the 2017 Southern California Basketball Regionals for both boys and girls (NOTE: to be finalized at State CIF pairings meeting on Sunday, March 5. CIFSDS DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONS ARE GURANTEED ENTRY INTO THE STATE PLAYOFFS ALL 8 OPEN DIVISION TEAMS ARE GURANTEED ENTRY INTO THE STATE PLAYOFFS ADDITONAL AT LARGE TEAMS MAY ALSO BE SELECTED BY THE SEEDING COMMITTEE 5. PAIRINGS The Commissioner s office will seed teams and determine first round pairings after input from the Basketball Pairings Committee. There will be no appeal of the Commissioner s decisions on seeding or pairings. League champions (designated #1) are automatic entries into the playoffs. All others, including co-champions or tri- champions, will be selected at large. League champions or designated #1 teams will be guaranteed a home game in the 1st round (unless playing a higher seeded league champion or a team seeded #1-#4), except in divisions which begin play in the quarter final round. League champions are not guaranteed a seeding priority. The open division will be seeded without regard to league affiliation. If a league champion is not seeded into the playoffs, the champion will host a play-in game versus the lowest-seeded team in that division. If more than one league champion is not seeded, the highest ranking league champion will play the lowest seeded team, the 2nd highest ranked league champion will play the 2nd lowest seeded team, etc. If the unseeded league champion wins the play-in game, that team will travel to play the 1 st round game. Play-in games will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. 6. UNIFORMS Home teams in the playoffs are to wear white uniforms; visitors to wear dark uniforms unless mutually agreed upon by both teams.
5 8. SITE MANAGEMENT First Round, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals will be provided by the Home Team. Championship will be provided by CIFSDS Office and host site, unless otherwise stated. 9. SCHOOL SUPERVISION School supervision is a must and is required at every level of playoff contests (home and away). It is recommended that the following be present: school administration, five (5) administrative supervisors, teacher/campus assistants, and private security (as needed). 10. SPECIAL AWARDS It is inappropriate for individual schools to recognize their student-athletes during CIFSDS playoff contests; i.e., senior awards, flower distribution, etc. 11. VIDEOTAPING Videotaping of CIFSDS playoff contests by schools for commercial use is not permitted. 12. PRE-GAME SPORTSMANSHIP MEETING Sportsmanship meeting will be conducted by the home team (or higher seed) management prior to all preliminary round playoff games. CIFSDS staff will conduct the sportsmanship meeting prior to championship games. 13. TICKETS All Divisions: 1st Round, Quarter Finals, and Semifinals See Green Book, Article VII, Regarding Playoffs, CIFSDS rules and regulations for Playoffs, pages Playoff Report Forms are available on CIFSDS Home Site; please visit the website at Schools may use a pass list for complimentary entry to first round, quarterfinal, semifinal games. Each school is allowed ten (10) complimentary admissions. The visiting school will fax its pass list to the home school and to the CIFSDS Office. All divisions: The home school will provide tickets in first rounds, quarterfinals, and semifinals; recap on CIFSDS home. Admission will be charged for all rounds FAILURE TO CHARGE ADMISSION WILL RESULT IN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE ASSESSED BY THE CIFSDS OFFICE. 14. FINALS The CIF, San Diego Section will host championship games. Playoff Ticket Ranges - There are two playoff ticket ranges- Adult- Defined as anyone over 18 years old and Student/Senior-Student defined as anyone age 5 through age 18; Senior defined as anyone aged 60 or over: Adult Students Senior First Round/Quarterfinals $8.00 $5.00 Semifinals $10.00 $5.00 Finals- ALL DIVISIONS $14.00 $5.00 Championship Floor Courtside Seating fee $30.00 (opposite benches; reserved seating is good for one game only).
6 15. OFFICIALS All game officials shall be assigned by Bill Herrzog, Gordon Torigoe and Ric Labrada, CIFSDS Basketball Assignment Secretaries. Officials in all rounds will be charged to game expense and the home school in pre-final contests will pay the officials. The CIFSDS Office will pay championship game officials Basketball Officials Playoff Fees First Round $79.00 Quarterfinals $79.00 Semifinals $79.00 Championships $ ACCOMODATIONS FOR OFFICIALS Coaches and Athletic Directors are asked to continue their efforts to provide professional assistance to officials who work their games. This would include meeting the officials upon arrival and escorting them to their dressing area as well as escorting them off the court at the contest s conclusion. School personnel, other than the head coach, should be designated to stand by with a key to the official s room, or the officials should be given a key. On-site staff should be aware of and observe the privacy of the officials locker room/dressing area. Thank you for your cooperation. 17. GAME EXPENSE LIMITS Please refer to page CIFSDS Policies and Procedures, Article VII, Playoff Expense. Playoff Reports, are available on CIFSDS Home, please visit the website at PASSES There shall be no deviation from the following passes: Permitted CIFSDS-Courtesy Cards, CIFSDS-Playoff Passes, CIFSDS-Boys /Girls Basketball Playoff Scouting Cards (except for Championships), CIFSDS-Media Passes, CIFSDS-Life Passes, State CIF Courtesy Cards, and State CIF Life Passes. Not Permitted CIFSDS Boys and Girls Scouting Cards, league passes, district passes, faculty passes, officials association passes, college or university passes, etc. NOTE: Two (2) Boys and Girls Basketball Playoff Scouting Passes will be issued to each team at the pairings meeting on February 18, AWARDS Championship Team Trophy Individual Championship Patches (20) Runner-Up Team Trophy Individual Runner-Up Patches (20) 20. PLAYOFF PARTICIPATION PATCHES Playoff participation patches may be purchased for $11.00 each. Orders will be accepted via the CIFSDS Home site, please visit our website at

ADDITIONAL RUNNER-UP PATCHES AND CHAMPIONSHIP PATCHES Additional Runner-up and Championship patches may be purchased for $11.00 orders will be accepted via the CIFSDS Home site, please visit our website at CHEERLEADERS AND SONG LEADERS 25 Uniformed Varsity Cheerleaders and Varsity Song Leaders are to be admitted free and are to take an active role in discouraging booing, inappropriate cheers, and other unsportsmanship-like actions of the crowd. 23. BANDS AND DRILL TEAMS Complimentary admission may be given to pep bands in accordance with the following criteria: a. Permission must be secured in advance from game management. b. Pep bands shall be limited to no more than 18 members, in uniform. c. Each member must enter with his/her own instrument. d. To secure complimentary admission, the band must enter as a single group accompanied by an adult band director. e. The pep band may not perform (play) during game action. f. The band must sit in area designated by game management 24. NON-FOOD CONCESSION The non-food concession (e.g., T-shirts, hats, etc.) for the 2017 San Diego CIF Basketball Championships has been awarded to the Kukulski Bros. If you have any special ordering needs, contact David Kukulski at RADIO, TV, AND WEBCAST COVERAGE Radio, TV, and webcast rights to all CIF playoff contests are governed by the Commissioner. The CIFSDS office is to be contacted regarding broadcast requests for all playoff games. 26.
