1 Monday, February 13, 2017 LHS Helping Hand will be selling Krispy Kreme Doughnuts on Valentine's Day (tomorrow). They will be $0.50/doughnut or $5/box. Doughnuts will be sold at the bus entrance, tech entrance, and front entrance. LHS welcomes William Perry Woolbright as new Lexington High School Head Football Coach and Athletic Director! Art Club will meet Thursday at 3:35 pm in C101 LHS has 3 finalists and we need people to vote! The Varsity Winterguard received 1 st place in the Scholastic A Class and the JV Winterguard received 6 th place in the Scholastic Regional A Class at the West Ashley Premiere competition on Saturday January 28. At the recent South Carolina Band Directors Association business meeting, Dr. David O'Shields was elected President-Elect of the SCBDA. He will serve a two-year term as president elect, then a two year term as president of the SCBDA. Updates from the LHS Cafeteria Chef Salads are now being offered, as well as fresh fruit, and ham and/or turkey deli sandwiches. Students In Action (SIA) needs to meet in Mrs. Bonnette's room (D112) on Wednesday, February 15 at 3:30 p.m. All are expected to attend. 3 District Calendar Update On Friday, February 17, students will not be attending school. It is a Professional Development Day for faculty. However, on Monday, February 20, all students WILL have school as this is one of the make-up days for missing school in October due to the hurricane. LHS Model UN will be selling Bojangles Biscuits next Friday, February 24 before school outside in the bus loop and in front of the main entrance. Chicken biscuits are $3 and sausage biscuits are $2. Attention College Bound Students!! Sign up for AP Psychology during your IGP. This is the most popular Advanced Placement course at Lexington High School!! Take this opportunity to earn college credit for Psychology 101, which is a required course for the vast majority of colleges, while boosting your GPA and class rank. This course is taught in engaging ways that will help students to be successful. This also looks great on College and Scholarship Applications! Cats Kick Cancer Soccer Game Boys Varsity and JV soccer players will be selling Cats Kick Cancer wristbands starting Monday, February 6. The wristbands will be $3 with $2.50 from each wristband going to support Camp KEMO. Students will be able to use the wristband, along with a parent permission form, as a ticket to get into the first game of the Cats Kick Cancer Kickoff Classic during 4 th block on Friday, February 24. Lexington plays Summerville at 2:30 p.m. A presentation of money to Camp KEMO before the game. The Key Club is sponsoring Pennies for Patients Fundraiser - February The challenge is for 4 th block to gather donations for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society throughout February. The 4 th block with the most money raised will win Olive Garden!!! Hope everyone will join the challenge and help us raise lots of money for a great cause!! If you are a junior or senior interested in gaining some experience in web design (creating & designing) and have the following qualifications: mature own transportation must know the basics of web design works well independently. Mr. Scaffe would be happy to have them come in for a couple of weeks in the afternoon to gain some experience. If the student is productive enough this may lead to being hired part-time. Great opportunity for an internship or co-op next year as well should a student have room in their schedule.

Tuesday and Thursday after school detention 3:35 4:20 p.m. Teen Talk The times are from 10:30 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. 12 p.m. Teen Talk is held in Room B210 each week during your lunch time. Need someone to talk to and share what is on your mind? Teen Talk gives you an opportunity to get together with friends, enjoy group discussions, and share what's on your mind. Some of the topics that are covered include self-esteem, decision making, relationships and future career goals. Learn how to make healthy choices. Join your friends and enjoy the group discussions. After School Math homework help will be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There will be no homework help on Wednesdays. Yearbook is accepting picture submissions of student and life events!
