2 Minute Musings 00 By Nolan Mobley A few years ago, I learned about lucid dreaming and have been hoping to experience it since. Lucid dreaming is when you re aware that you re dreaming and can manipulate the dream in any fashion. If you ve seen the movie Inception, then that s the basic concept of it. I started keeping a sleep journal a week or so ago (although I haven t stayed consistent with it). They say that in order to lucid dream, you have to help yourself remember that you re dreaming. Things like looking at a clock throughout the day, keeping a dream journal, or telling yourself constantly that you are awake are supposed to help, but I can t confirm or deny that. How cool would it be to be able to fly whenever you wanted or just imagine yourself to be anywhere you want? On the same note of dreams, I have always looked up symbols in my dreams and the meanings behind them always accurately line up with what is happening in my life. For example, when things aren t going so smooth, I tend to have dreams of snakes. Whether they re chasing me or just laying somewhere in my dream, it only happens when things aren t great. Lastly, we ve all experienced déjà vu or having something in a dream coincide with waking up in real life. How is it that our subconscious works in such a complex way that it basically predicts the future? I m not sure if that s something that can ever be explained. The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is entering the fourth year of our successful Member to Member Discount Program. With over 90 members participating, business to business relationships are at the core of our mission. With this program members can provide special offers and discounts directly to other members and their employees. All members of the Chamber receive a membership card when they join, as well as one for each employee. Members also have access to a full list of discounts on the Chamber s website The discount cards, when flashed at participating member businesses, save money instantly on purchases. The main purpose of the card is to verify membership in order to receive discounts. Participating businesses this year will also be given a plaquard to display as a way to prompt people to remember their discounts. We encourage you to choose a discount or offer that is appropriate to your business, 10% off any item or a specialty item in your shop; 10% off of services for a first time customer; 15% off a first contract for services; a free visit for consultation; or a discounted rate for monthly services. If your business has business cards, brochures, or rack cards, feel free to drop them by with us. We send these packets all over the country every week to people who are interested in moving to our area. This not only helps the person receiving the information, but also your business. We are open on Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm, our offices are 425 W Oglethorpe Hwy in Hinesville.

10 Liberty County Recreation Department UPCOMING PROGRAMS SIGN UP NOW FOR THE FOLLOWING: After School Program: Starts the first day of school and continues throughout the school year. Provides transportation from school to the Shuman Center where participants have activities, snack, and study time. For children in Kindergarten through 5 th grade, the cost is $45 per week. A limited number of slots are available. Rip the Stage: Dance and fashion show scheduled for September 13 at the Liberty County Community Complex. Classes for ages 5-12 will be held each Monday starting Monday, August 4 from 5:30-6:30pm. Classes for ages will be held each Tuesday starting August 5 from 5:30-6:30pm. The fee for this program is $30. AEROBICS WITH ROCKY Registration is now underway at the Liberty County Recreation Department for Aerobics with Rocky. Classes are held each Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7pm at the Button Gwinnett School gymnasium. The cost is $15 per month and a limited number of slots are available. Call for additional information. Hinesville & Midway Pools: open 2-6pm daily through August 10 Family Nights at Pools: M & W, 7:15-9pm, all ages, $2 per swimmer, for parents and children only For additional information call or go to Hinesville Area Arts Council Events & Art Classes Calligraphy Classes Calligraphy Classes will be taught the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Classes are $45 for two classes or $40 for two classes if you have your own supplies. Preregistration is required by calling Havie at Oil Painting Lesson Teaching Bob Ross Technique Oil Painting. Everything is included, just bring yourself. You make it and take it! Landscapes, seascapes, floral or wildlife. $40 per class and pre-registration is required. Classes are held on the 4 th Saturday and Sunday of each month. Variety Studio Art for Teens- Ages from 2:00-3:30pm. Join other teens in practicing drawing, painting, sculpture, and other forms of art in a fun atmosphere. Every First and Third Monday Adult Art Classes- Ages 17+ from 6:00-7:30pm. This class is designed for beginners as well as those who have moderate experience with art and design. Join other adults while exploring drawing, painting, sculpture, and bits of art history. All classes $10 per person (or parent and child) or 3 for $25.
