7 Goal PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH GOAL AND STRATEGIES To have informed, engaged, and empowered stakeholders and neighborhood partners during the whole lifecycle (planning, design, and construction) of the Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP). 7

11 WHAT THE PUBLIC IS SAYING Participants were unfamiliar with how San Francisco s Combined Sewer System functions. They were most concerned with the System s aging infrastructure, seismic safety and public health. Concerned about the cost of the SSIP and impact on community. Once SSIP was described, participants were generally supportive of it. SSIP Focus Groups & Field Surveys July
