2 INVITATION The 5th International ALA and Porphyrin Symposium (IAPS5) will be held at University of Munich, Germany on December 2, The Advisory and Organizing Committee cordially invites you to attend the Symposium and participate in its scientific and social programs. The main theme of the Symposium will be on Innovation for Treatment of Refractory Diseases by Research on 5- Aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) and Porphyrins. This Symposium will provide a forum in the science of ALA and Porphyrins and related compounds not only to present the recent studies but also to hold discussions on new perspectives in the 21st century. The Advisory and Organizing Committee hope to organize a symposium both instructive and memorable for researchers in various fields (medical science, chemistry, pharmacology, agricultural biology etc.) from around the world. ALA-PDD and ALA-PDT and ALA-XDT 3. Mitochondrial Disease 4. Metabolic Syndrome and Aging : animal models, diagnosis and therapy 5. Drug Delivery System of Porphyrin based Medicine The Committee hopes all of you present a paper. The official language of the Symposium will be English. YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWORD The ALA and Porphyrin Research Society offers Young Investigator Awards in the amount of 200,000 JPY (or 1539 EURO) each. The purpose of the Young Investigator Award is to assist eligible abstract presenters in attending the IAPS5. Applicant must be a presenting author of one or more abstracts accepted at the IAPS5. If you would like to be considered for an award and you meet the eligibility requirements, please send a copy of the abstract for presentation at the IAPS5 with following registration form. Submission deadline is October 31, 2017.

6 From Airport How to reach us by car From the Nürnberg highway: get onto the Mittlerer Ring (direction Autobahn Lindau), then onto the Lindau highway to the exit Blumenau, keep going to Gräfelfing from where Würmtalstrasse will lead you to our campus. From the Stuttgart highway: from the end of the highway in Obermenzing turn off to Pasing, from Pasing drive in the direction of Gräfelfing, then turn left to Großhadern. From the Salzburg or Garmisch highways: drive onto the "Mittlerer Ring" in the direction of Großhadern and Stuttgart, then, in Großhadern turn to Gräfelfing and follow Würmtalstrasse which passes by our campus. By train and public transport By IC, EC, ICE to Munich Central Station (München Hauptbahnhof). From there, take the subway U1 or U2 to Sendlinger Tor. Change to U6 in the direction of Klinikum Großhadern and get off at Großhadern. Take the stairway to your left and keep left. You are now on Würmtalstr. Now you can walk along Würmtalstraße until the campus comes into view (large modern buildings) on the left (about 10 to 15 minutes) or take the bus 266 in the direction of Planegg to Waldhüterstr. 7 From the Munich airport take the S-Bahn S8 (or S1) to Marienplatz. Change to the subway U6 in the direction of Klinikum Großhadern and get off at Großhadern. Take the stairway to your left and keep left. You are now on Würmtalstrasse. Now you can walk along Würmtalstraße until the campus comes into view (large modern buildings) on the left (about 10 to 15 minutes) or take the bus 266 in the direction of Planegg to Waldhüterstr.
